When you’re trying to quit smoking, it’s important to remember that everyone is completely different; what works for some people may not work for you.

However, it’s always worth trying different things to help kick the habit and money is a proven motivational factor when it comes to quitting.

Plus, there’s nothing like teaming up with friends and challenging each other.

Project Pink Lung was specifically designed to be an effective tool for smokers who want to try a new way of quitting.

Featuring things like financial challenges and visual motivators, this app is perfect for anyone who is actively trying to quit or has already quit and wants to track progress.

Concept and Functionality:

No matter where you turn, there are as many commercials for products to help you quit smoking as there are for cigarettes themselves. Project Pink Lung, by Quantum Solutions Inc., is a free and portable way to put your money where your smokes are. This is accomplished by connecting the app to Facebook and getting a few of your friends to join the app.

Together you can pledge money to a challenge and the winner of the challenge gets their money back, as well as other winnings from the pot. The one thing to keep in mind is that this is based on the honor system; there’s no way to actively track and monitor your friends to make sure they’re not smoking.

Project Pink Lung is more than a social challenge app. It also serves as a way to show you just how much money you’ve saved by not smoking.

If you’re craving a cigarette, you can choose to be scared by seeing somewhat gruesome pictures of the effects smoking has on your body. If you don’t want to go that route, you can be distracted with task ideas that will help you take your mind off your craving.

Project Pink Lung – Quite Smoking iPhone App

One thing I noticed is you have to have Facebook in order to take advantage of Project Pink Lung. This is somewhat unfortunate because I think the app still serves an incredibly useful purpose even if you decide not to take advantage of the challenge feature.

While it may be true that connecting your Facebook account to the app helps you reach your goal of quitting, in our view it should be an option.

Along with being able to participate in financial challenges and distractions, Project Pink Lung allows you to record the times you’ve slipped up and smoked. Instead of ridiculing you for doing so, the app gently asks how many cigarettes you’ve had and resets your “last smoked” data.

Project Pink Lung is available to download from the App Store for free and is universally compatible with iPhone and iPad. There are no ads or in-app purchases to worry about, either.

Overall, Project Pink Lung is an incredibly useful app for anyone who is either in the process of quitting smoking or has already quit and wants to keep track of their progress.

Pledging money is fun and is proven to be a great motivational factor, but the other tools in Project Pink Lung help just as much.
