Top 10 New iOS Games from July 2015
Written by Sarah Hanlon
Yet another summer month has come and gone, but July was a fantastic month for new iPhone and iPad games.
Industry-leading franchises released sequels to their games, and many developers made their mark on the App Store for the first time.
This list of the 10 best new iPhone and iPad games from July definitely features something for everyone, and I wholeheartedly believe you’ll find plenty of games to try out.
From action-packed shooters to challenging puzzle games and immersive RPG titles, there’s a great mix of free and paid games for you to try out.
Angry Birds 2 is the much-anticipated sequel of the most popular game franchise to hit the App Store, and it definitely debuted with a bang.
Featuring totally revamped gameplay and tons of new elements to enjoy, Angry Birds 2 is essentially a whole new game that’s unlike what you’ve played before.
This means that die hard fans of the franchise finally have something new to enjoy and those who are new to Angry Birds can experience everything the franchise offers.
To-Fu Fury takes players on a puzzle adventure that’s both fast-paced and gorgeous to look at.
From action-packed combat to epic boss battles, To-Fu Fury is essentially multiple games combined into one amazing experience.
This is definitely a game you can’t miss and it’s worth every penny.
This artistic game is a pleasant combination of Zen gameplay and strategy.
The goal of the game is to help your tree grow despite a hostile environment.
The developer describes Prune as “a love letter to trees”, and it’s clear that this is an incredibly unique game that’s unlike anything you’ve experienced before.
The price is a bit steep, but you don’t have to worry about in-app purchases or other monetizing elements. It’s one of my favorite games to play and it’s a great way to relax and enjoy a bit of visual art.
Cally’s Caves 3 (Jordan Pearson – iPhone, iPad, Free) – The third and final installment of the popular Cally’s Caves series, this brand-new sequel received a boatload of praise among fans when it made its debut on the App Store.
The game features 120 levels across 8 different zones, 20 different enemies, 12 weapon classes with 89 different effects, and much more.
This is an expansive game that offers a very retro feel with modern gameplay elements.
Both kids and adults will enjoy playing Cally’s Caves 3.
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers 20th Anniversary Edition (Phoenix Online Studios – iPad, Free) – One thing I love about iOS games is that they can be both new and old.
This stunning re-release of an old classic takes players on a whirlwind adventure of suspense, drama, and more.
Designed for iPad, this amazing game is a must-have if you enjoy thrillers and investigative mysteries.
I do want to mention that the download size is huge (almost 2 GB) so device space is a must if you’re planning on checking out this awesome new game.
The Long Siege is a rare combination of match 3 gameplay, RPG elements, and real-time strategy. It’s perfect for players who want more out of match 3 gameplay instead of simply earning high scores.
My favorite part about The Long Siege is that it keeps players moving forward in a fast-paced way, keeping them from becoming bored with basic gameplay.
The price shouldn’t deter you from checking it out, either, as there are no in-app purchases and the game is universally compatible with iPhone and iPad.
This exciting and challenging game is similar to Flappy Bird but offers much more in the way of challenging gameplay.
As with most games like Vault!, game mechanics are easy to learn but incredibly hard to master.
If you enjoy challenging games that will keep you playing over and over again, this is one you must check out. Plus, you can’t beat the price.
Rotatio (Tapinator, LLC – iPhone, iPad, Free) – Yet another game that offers a unique visual experience, Rotatio is a mesmerizing arcade game that requires players to navigate a circle along a path and through gates.
The goal of the game is to survive for as long as you can without colliding with obstacles.
I’ve always believed there’s beauty in simplicity, and Rotatio is the perfect example of this concept.
It’s a challenging game that’s both calming and difficult. It’s a great wind down game that’s perfect for players who enjoy besting their high score.
Filling that spot is Forsaken World, which is an expansive MMORPG for iPhone and iPad that originally debuted on PC.
Featuring all of the elements you can possibly think of, this incredible game includes PVP action, quests, mounts, and much more.
The best part about Forsaken World in that the environment is just as expansive as the game. Not only is it fun to play, but exploring the world is both enjoyable and rewarding.
This is definitely a game that will get you addicted in no time, and the best part is that you can play along with friends.
Stupid Zombies 3 (GameResort LLC – iPhone, iPad, Free) – The 10th and final game on our list of the best new iOS games from July is Stupid Zombies 3, which is a comedic platformer for iPhone and iPad.
The goal of the game is to destroy spawning zombies as quickly as you can before they reach you.
You have a variety of weapons at your disposal, as well as over 100 levels to play through.
This isn’t merely a “spray and pray” shooter, though, because your shots have to be thoroughly planned in order for them to bounce around the map.
This is definitely a game that is perfect for anyone who enjoys making trick shots.
