If you’re a software developer who is looking for a way to organize your team in order to efficiently complete projects, then ScrumTotal is an iPhone app that you should check out.

ScrumTotal is an incredibly useful mobile productivity app designed to help teams collaborate and complete projects in a timely and efficient manner.

Concept and Functionality:

If you’re not familiar with the Scrum method, it’s a productivity system that focuses on completing software projects in smaller pieces. The system focuses heavily on being able to compensate for changes in goals, making them less of a hassle so development teams aren’t thrown off. For more information on the Scrum method, check out this Wikipedia article.

ScrumTotal, developed by Ashok Singh, takes the Scrum method and turns it into a handy iPhone app that lets development teams collaborate around the world.

It’s important to note that this is a fully functional stand-alone Scrum tool. It is not a Kanban tool or simply an extension of a web or desktop Scrum tool.

When you first open the app you’ll have to set up an administrator, along with other team members. Next, you’ll create projects and assign team members to different tasks.

One drawback ScrumTotal has is that it can be incredibly confusing to use if you haven’t a clue as to what the Scrum method is. It’s not impossible to navigate once you find your way around, but you’ll likely spend quite a bit of time figuring out how to use the app.

ScrumTotal is loaded with helpful features that all types of software developers can take advantage of. This includes keeping track of bugs and assigning different users to fix them, accessing reports on progress, and much more.

However, there’s one major feature that’s missing from ScrumTotal, which is an interactive tutorial that walks new users through the app from start to finish.

There’s a help guide popup that tells you the steps needed to start a project, but I think an interactive walk-through that teaches new users how to use the app would be very user friendly.

This would mean development teams could spend less time learning how to use ScrumTotal and more time taking advantage of it.

ScrumTotal is available to download from the App Store for free and is designed for iPhone. There’s a free 30 day trial for new users and each license costs a minimum of $6.99 per month. Once you’re set up there is no limit on the number of users and projects.

The good news is you can customize the number and duration of licenses (if you’re an administrator) and you can manage licenses within the app itself.

Overall, ScrumTotal is an incredibly useful productivity app for software developers who are looking for a way to easily collaborate with their team no matter where they are.

There’s a bit of a learning curve if you’ve never used the Scrum method before, but it’s time well spent.

ScrumTotal is also available for Android.
