Stick and Chick, developed by Animax, is a fast-paced shooting game with slick hand-drawn graphics and a fun unique twist.

It features an interesting twist on typical action games sporting a retro arcade style, beatbox soundtrack and a fairly strange background story with an amusing running dialogue.

Concept and Gameplay:

Stick and Chick is one of those games that you’ll either like or dislike right off the bat. The game is about Stick, a gang member, and his girlfriend Chick. Chick is “kidnapped” by her brother Thick, the leader of a rival gang. Stick must set out on a revenge-filled journey to rescue Chick.

To play Stick and Chick, you have to tap the screen in order to shoot the bad guys as you progress through levels. You’ll encounter Blackhawk helicopters, cars, and even innocent civilians.

The goal is to reach the end of the level alive, and eventually to complete all levels and beat Thick to rescue Chick.

The only major downside to Stick and Chick is the fact that you have to actually pay $0.99 to unlock the final level in order to beat Thick and save Chick. Personally I’ve never encountered a game that required you to pay in order to beat it, and I definitely don’t think it’s fair to players, especially seeing as the game already asks you to pay $0.99 if you want to disable ads.

I wouldn’t say Stick and Chick is a great game, but it definitely has potential. It’s very fast-paced, so it offers a decent challenge to players. It’s worth noting that there’s a ton of violence in the game, which can be a very good thing for the right players s0 I was happy to see that Stick and Chick is restricted to 17 years or older.

Features:

Stick and Chick includes 10 levels for you to play through, each featuring its own landscape and challenges. I do like the fact that levels are designed to help you progress through the story of Stick rescuing Chick, and you can even see stats such as your accuracy, number of enemies killed, and number of casualties.

Also, players can purchase a variety of things from the in-game store in Stick and Chick, including a machine gun boost that’s good for a certain number of games. The machine gun lets players multi-tap on the screen in order to unload a barrage of bullets.

Value::

Stick and Chick is available to download from the App Store for free and is universally compatible with iPhone and iPad. Players can optionally disable ads for $0.99, as well as unlock the final level where Stick can rescue Chick.

Overall, SC is a very fast-paced shooter that will keep players on the edge of their seat. It offers a decent storyline, sharp colorful graphics, a fresh soundtrack and it’s challenging enough to keep you coming back for more.

However, the requirement to pay in order to unlock the final level and beat the game is a major turnoff for me, and hopefully the final level is included in the game at some point in the future.

Stick and Chickstick_and_chick.jpg requires iOS 6.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
