Developed by Daisuke Sonobe, LifeBox provides users with interesting and unusual entertainment through its animated stick figures.

Available for free through January 13th through the iTunes Store, LifeBox is definitely a one-of-a-kind app.

Features:

LifeBox is a unique app that features movable stick figures, each encased in its own little box. Suggested for audiences 17 years old and up, some of these actions might seem a bit inappropriate for some, although potentially entertaining for a given audience.

Each box can be arranged as you desire on your iOS’ screen, and the app’s developers encourage users to play around with arranging their character’s boxes as a way of creating a fun, unique set of wallpapers to suit their personal preferences.

The starting screen features all black and white characters, but other color options (red, green, and yellow) can be selected. Arranging boxes or adding new ones into your screen in LifeBox is easy to do with just a few swipes of your finger.

I found this app to be fairly easy to use and oddly compelling. Trust me, you haven’t seen anything like this before and you’ll watch with fascination while you wonder what they figures will do next.

Overall, LifeBox is definitely a unique app. For anyone looking for an app or game with a definite “purpose,” then LifeBox probably isn’t the one for him; the random arrangement of characters will definitely be more appreciated by an audience that does not mind an app not having a set “point” to its functions.

Appearance and Layout:

The layout of LifeBox is interesting, and customizing the figures on your screen to your preferences is definitely doable, just as it is advertised to be. The stick figures featured in the app are also fairly impressive (for stick figures) and their animations are decently long-lasting as well.

The layout is clean, and the boxes keep distractions to a pleasant minimum. Moving tiles/figures is easy to do, and the app’s official product description provides a clear explanation of how to operate it as well. Overall, the appearance of LifeBox is probably its strongest feature.

Value:

As mentioned previously, LifeBox is currently available for free. (The price is set to increase to $0.99 around mid-January.) At the same time, LifeBox is a bit of a large app—a fact that is made evident by how long it takes to download it, even on the latest iOS devices.

This is not a lightweight app by any means though. At about 350MB, anyone looking to conserve room in his/her library might want to pass this app up.

However, for anyone looking for a fun app that’s different and entertaining, we suggest you give Lifebox a go, it just might stick around in your app collection.

lifeboxqrLifeBox requires iOS 7.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
