iSlept is a great app for anyone who travels at the mercy of public transportation.
Developed by Hadidane IT-Engineering, iSlept helps to make sure you never miss your stop again because you happened to fall asleep.
Concept and Functionality:
We’ve all been there. You stayed up all night and you’re dead tired when you hop on the subway or the bus, or you’re exhausted from an excruciating workday, or post-work partying.
You effortlessly fall into your seat and before you know it, you’re sound asleep.
While you’re catching zzz’s, though, the bus or subway is quickly approaching your destination. Unless you were wise enough to set an alarm on your iPhone before you closed your eyes, you might miss your stop.
iSlept aims to correct this issue by providing users with an app that stays awake while they sleep. Essentially it’s meant to keep an eye on your location so it can alert you when you are nearing your destination, therefore preventing you from missing your stop.
Initially I was a bit confused as to what purpose iSlept served, but once I stopped to think about how falling asleep on public transportation is a problem almost everyone faces at one point or another, the concept made complete sense to me.
Sometimes we can’t help when or where we happen to nap, and it’s neat to have an app that will look out for you while you’re working off your sleep debt.
All you have to do is type in a destination via the search function, and the app will do the rest.
Though fairly lightweight and straightforward, iSlept does include a few additional neat features to help users. This includes voice prompts, a history of destinations, and options to display points of interest, weather information, and more.
Since the app does use your gps, it’s a nice touch that the developer includes a warning about battery drain and states “We suggest you to use a juice pack with your device or plug in the power cable.”
iSlept can also save up to 20 of your favorite locations, making it incredibly easy to tell the app where you’re going if you frequently make trips there.
iSlept is available to download from the App Store for $0.99and is designed for iPhone.
If you’re a commuter who has ever slept past your stop, or fears missing your stop if you happen to fall asleep, iSlept is definitely an app that’s worth a download.
iSlept requires iOS 7.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
