The music industry has seen some ground shaking changes in the last decade. From Vinyl to cassettes, then to CD’s and finally MP3’s, we’ve seen a rapid evolution in how we absorb and participate in the music realm.

More recently, we watched MP3 downloads turn to streaming services, and now we participate in a new music industry each time we listen or download a song. While for the most part this has been to the advantage of the consumer, this new landscape does pose a set of problems.

For example, what if I want to download an album from iTunes, but there’s a remix I want that’s only available on SoundCloud. Or similarly, what if I can afford to pay for a Premium Spotify service, but I can’t afford to buy each new $15 Jay-Z album that comes out.

Well, with the evolution of the music industry at heart and in mind, Amplifind Music Player and Visualizer, from Matthew Brown, has come strong out of the starting gate, serving as a music content aggregator allowing you to get it all in one place.

Amplifind is a terrific innovative app that pulls your favorite tunes from a multitude of services and puts it all neatly into a single app. Simply put, music fanatics are going to want this app.

The app has a central screen boasting four major categories; Songs, Artists, Albums and Playlists. If you’re used to iTunes, you really won’t need to make an adjustment to use this app.

Next to each song, the original streaming platform of the track will be displayed, which includes four major music platforms; iTunes, SoundCloud, Grooveshark and Spotify. Once you click on a song, you can see a visualizer animate your tunes in real-time.

The crux of this app is built to save you time and increase your music enjoyment, and who is going to argue with that. Now, instead of juggling between four apps or more, you can look to one place.

Concept and Functionality:

Considering all that this app does, it’s built pretty well, doesn’t crash, and at 16.8MB, is relatively lightweight. If you dropped your Walkman in place of your iPhone, and dropped CDs in place of iTunes, you’re already halfway to fully utilizing this app.

Overall Value:

At $2.99, this one fits snuggly into the “paid” but worth it category. The app accomplishes a great deal in a small amount of space, and might just be headed toward cult status if SoundCloud’s immensely growing user base picks this one up.

AQRAmplifind Music Player and Visualizer requires iOS 5.1.1 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
