Namefeud, developed by Niklas Severinsson, is perfect for parents who are expecting a new addition to the family and would like a handy and fun way to research baby names. The app has many other features which make it a truly universal research tool for parents.

Concept and Functionality:

Namefeud, though unique in its purpose, definitely serves new parents well when it comes to narrowing down the perfect names for their newborn. The app features a handy walkthrough of features when you first open it, giving you a fantastic idea of what the app is capable of.

Parents are able to research name trends for the previous year, allowing them to see what’s going on around the world as far as baby names and their influences. It’s also incredibly easy to research names based on meaning, such as “friend” or “trustworthy”.

It’s amazing to see the shear number of names listed within Namefeud, so there’s definitely something for everyone.

It’s also easy for parents to create lists and share them with their spouse, family, and friends. Naturally this is a great way to receive input from others, and it’s neat to be able to share multiple lists with ease.

The heart and soul of Namefeud is the name game, though. This is where you choose the gender of the child and select from an extensive list of names by selecting which of the two you like the most.

This goes on for 16 rounds, until you’re finally left with the two names you like the most. Naturally this isn’t the definitive name for your child, but it’s a great way to see which names appeal to you the most.

Namefeud includes a plethora of features for all of your name research needs, including lists, favorites, and even social network sharing. Parents can even edit and reorder names in their lists, allowing them to easily organize by preference.

One feature I’d like to see implemented into Namefeud is the ability to research names and play the Namefeud game using a gender neutral option, which would be perfect for parents who don’t know the gender of their child yet and would like to easily research both name categories or names that work well for either gender.

Namefeud is available to download from the App Store for $0.99 and is universally compatible with iPhone and iPad.

Whether you’re a parent who is expecting a child or someone who is interested in name research, Namefeud is definitely an app that’s worth checking out. It has plenty of features and tools that will suit everyone’s needs.

Namefeudnamefeud.jpg requires iOS 7.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
