Ultimate Next is quickly becoming a rising star in the App Store. Developed by InhoLee, this feature-rich app for iPhone and iPad is sure to have something for the person who wants a bit of everything in a calendar app.

Concept and Functionality:

Without a doubt, Ultimate Next has gone above and beyond to bring together information that users need on a daily basis. On the surface it looks like a standard calendar app, but it really is so much more than that. From tracking your finances to keeping tabs on your to-do list, Ultimate Next really has it all.

Naturally an app that handles so much information has to do so intuitively, and that’s where Ultimate Next falls a bit short. On the iPhone the interface is not kind to anyone who has trouble hitting very small buttons that are close to each other. Also, it takes quite a long time to figure out exactly what does what. While there’s a tutorial that attempts to guide you through Ultimate Next, it’s difficult to read on the iPhone because the font is so small. Of course this is not much of an issue when using this app on an iPad.

Interface issues aside, Ultimate Next functions quite well once you get the hang of the app. There’s a very steep learning curve, though, and you have to be patient with both yourself and the app if you want to master every single thing it allows you to do.

It would be impossible to cover every single feature Ultimate Next offers, but there are a few that are worth highlighting.

The biggest feature would be complete integration with your iCloud data, making it incredibly easy to sync information between your devices. I do wish the app included import support for popular finance apps and to-do apps, but that’s only a suggestion.

Also, Ultimate Next allows users to set a passcode for their calendar, adding quite a bit of safety and security to personal information. Remember, not only do you have appointments stored in the app, but also finance data, notes, and your to-do list.

Setting a passcode is a wise thing to do for any app that supports it, and I’m glad to see that Ultimate Next already has this covered.

Value:

Ultimate Next is currently available to download from the App Store for $1.99, but this is a limited time launch promotion. The app is regularly priced at $4.99.

Considering everything it can do, plus the fact that it’s a universal app, it’s definitely priced well. However, do remember that this is not your grandma’s calendar app. It’s for serious people who are looking for a serious all-in-one solution to their daily life tracking needs.

Ultimate Next – All in One Calendarultimate_next.jpg requires iOS 7.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
