How to Disable Lock Screen Notifications: Not as Difficult as You Think

With the advent of iOS 7, we’ve seen a rather startling change: Notifications hanging out on your lock screen.

Before the recent update, we had to jailbreak our iPhones and iPads to make this happen. Now, it’s a standard part of the software.

We’re glad to see that folks at Apple are tuned into the issues, sometimes just simple things, that people have to deal with and make the experience just a bit less convenient.

But what if you don’t want it to be? It’s simple enough to fix, and we’re going to show you how.

To disable the Notifications Center on your Lock Screen for iPad and iPhone, just follow these simple steps:

Find your Settings icon (We always put ours in the dock) and tap it.
Now, you’re looking for Notifications Center. Find it, and tap it, too.

Now we’re down to the nitty gritty. Don’t get nervous, take a deep breath and repeat to yourself “I can do this”, again, “I can do this”.

Just toggle off the first two bubbles, and you’re done!

That wasn’t so difficult, now was it? Of course, you can change these settings to fit your needs, too.

In fact you may want to try different settings just to make sure you have the hang of it.

It never hurts to be more knowledgeable about how to customize your constant companion.

If you want to see specific notifications, stay in the Notifications Center settings panel, and slide down.
Use the toggles here to tell the iPhone what you do, or do not, want to see.

If you’d still like to see notifications that are just for today, leave on the toggle that says, “Today View.”

This will cut down on the clutter, while still keeping you informed. In fact in my experience you’ll actually be better informed since you won’t get into the habit of ignoring the notifications because you’re getting too many of them.

So, we hope this has been helpful. If there are specific topics you would like to see some a post about don’t be shy, just leave a comment below and let us know.
