ccPing, developed by Theta Software Lab, is an incredibly handy and secure way to send instant messages between friends, family, and coworkers. If you need a chat app that puts security first, this is the app for you.
Concept and Functionality:
If you’re familiar with instant messaging apps and programs like Facebook, you know how convenient it is to quickly send blips of text back and forth to others (just like texting with your phone). ccPing takes the process a step further by implementing a number of security measures into their app to make sure your messages are safe from prying eyes.
Once you create an account with ccPing, you can start adding contacts and chatting with them. If you like, you can give the app permission to view your iPhone contacts, or you can use ccPing independently and add contacts who only use the app.
To chat, simply start up a conversation with another user and type normally. You can see when your message has been sent, delivered, and read, which is handy for those who like to make sure their message got through.
If you’re concerned about security, you can create secure chat sessions in ccPing. You can give the chat a password and a title, but make sure the other user has the password to the conversation, as well. Like regular chat, you can carry on a conversation normally. However, if you tap the lock icon at the top of the screen, your conversation will be encrypted and the only way to decrypt it is to enter the chat password.
As you can imagine, ccPing comes with a ton of awesome features that make it a very powerful chat app. You can send quick voice memos in chats, as well as your location and someone else’s contact information. You can also quickly and easily send photos.
My favorite feature ccPing offers has to be message destruction. You can optionally set messages to be deleted after a certain amount of time (60 to 300 seconds) after they’ve been delivered or read, which adds a neat secret agent vibe to the app. Something like this is useful for anyone who has to send secure information via ccPing and they don’t want the message laying around in chat logs.
ccPing is available to download from the App Store for free and is designed for iPhone. There are desktop versions of ccPing available, as well, so you can easily chat with anyone who doesn’t use their phone.
Overall, ccPing is a very neat instant messaging app that does exactly what it says, and it does it very well. If you’re looking for a secure way to send instant messages (especially ones that contain sensitive material), ccPing is definitely worth a look.
ccPing requires iOS 5.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
