It’s available for free (good job developer!) athough there is also an expanded version for purchase. With a load of speech bubble options and hilarious sayings, MindUp sounds like a sure hit. Stick with us as we review this interesting iOS app.
In MindUp, users essentially take photo of a person, or use an existing one, and then add a mood-based speech bubble to it with pre-built phrases. There is over 20 bubbles, loads of different mood settins (angry, sad, happy, tongue in cheek, etc), all accessible through a handy rotating emoticon window.
Simply start the app and point your camera at a person, facial recognition kicks in and a speech bubble appears. This can be adjusted by simply swiping on the mood window, the speech bubble, or going back to the setting screen.
Tap the big red button, and boom, you have a new photo with a speech bubble on top of it. You can then export the photo to your own gallery, to Facebook, Instagram, or even Twitter.
It’s really easy to add these silly speech bubbles through this app and is a great way to add a little humor to a photo, especially of friends and family. My only complaint is the difficulty in adding customizable text, something I couldn’t figure out. Perhaps it is just restricted to premium versions?
Either way, it’s still a fine app and the wide variety of quotes helps make up for the custom text issue.
MindUp sports a snazzy layout with a very easy to use set of features. First time users are introduced to the app through a quick and informative tutorial, showing off all the gestures needed to swap moods, bubbles, and more. Once you are in the app, after the tutorial, it’s a breeze to figure out.
The color scheme and designs is also well done, allowing for distraction free photo snapping, without annoying commercials and banners. The artwork of the bubbles is great too!
MindUp is a really fun app. The wide variety of moods, sayings, speech bubble options and more in this little photo edit program, for free, is very impressive.
Furthermore, the easy to use interface and the excellent selection of export optoin (Facebook!) makes this a solid go-to app for all speech bubble needs. Sure, you don’t get all the bubbles for free, but you sure do get a lot! If you like it as much as I did, consider grabbing.
MindUp Fun Photo Editor requires iOS 7.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad devices. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
