For us 99 “percenters” that work our butts off to afford rent and some down time, we know that luxury can be a state of mind, more so than just aged merlot and satin pillows. However, for those of us that have just gotten a pay-raise, hit the lottery, or are earning big from Bitcoin, there’s a new app in town.

Luxophile, from Dharma Systems, Inc., is aimed at the finer things in life, and allows you to share content with like-minded peers to find the finest caviar that money can buy.

The app is aimed at social sharing and content aggregation, and allows users to set a profile, and share their favorite luxurious things.

When setting up your profile you can upload a picture, create a user name, publish location and link directly to Facebook.

Then, you can explore the app head to toe, to see who is wining and dining, or what posh experience is being cultivated above all of the rest.

You can browse through people within your city, and find award-winning places for the hottest fashion, tastiest restaurants, and most glamorous travel ideas.

This app is ambitious and absolutely teeming with categories and features.

Concept and Functionality:

The concept here is interesting, and quite reasonable considering that those who have an iPhone or iPad may just be able to enjoy the content that Luxophile curates in the first place.

Still, the app seems to be in early stages of development, as it has tremendous trouble loading up and does not seem to pull content from other users in a seamless manner just yet.

For example, when attempting to view the “Cover Stories” section to find out what’s happening in New York City, I received a “could not retrieve the required results” error message multiple times. Even after closing the app and opening it again, this development error continued to occur.

The rest of the app seems to be capably built, and shows sections ranging from “Profile” and “Feed”, to “Map” and “Search”.

Once all of these sections are properly built in, I think that Luxophile will be a hit with those looking for restaurants not mentioned by Grub Hub.

Overall Value:

The loading page of Luxophile is a huge ruby that looks like it was plucked straight from a scene in Aladdin. Needless to say, the name and approach of this surprisingly free app may not resonate with everyone.

For those who prefer the crème de la crème, Luxophile is a perfect find.

LQRLuxophile requires iOS 6.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
