What do you call that timeless act of receiving information with your eyes, and processing with the mind and heart? Oh yeah, reading. And you’re doing it right now. Ah, reading; the trusty old companion.
Even though we find that cinema has overtaken the once ubiquitous novel, and that digital space has begun to conquer paper pages around the globe, reading itself is still powerful and infinite.
Be it in English letters or hieroglyphics, reading is something that will exist forever (or at least until telepathic information absorption). With true homage to the power that is the reading, we present Reading Arena, from HeKu IT, an impeccably neat, powerful, and brilliant app that uses reading as the primary medium of gaming and competition.
Identify words and letters at lighting speeds to compete with your friends in Reading Arena. If you’re too slow, you’ll receive some hints from the app itself and the round will then end.
If you’re quick enough, you’ll find yourself at the top of the leader board, and as the envy of all your friends. Reading Arena is a thrilling, lightweight and compelling app that makes learning and competing an absolute delight. The fact that it’s based on the existing, and very successful, “Reading Trainer” app is also a big plus.
This app features a few types of gameplay, all emphasizing letters and a need to pick out entire words, individual letters or patterns from lines and lines of text. A counter will begin to dwindle down and you’ll be forced to peruse all of the text as quickly as possible to stay competitive.
The app is free, ideal for young adults, and available for the iPad, iPhone and iPod. It allows you to challenge your friends or play alone. It is also available in a wide variety of languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish. The game is extremely compact, and at only 42.8 MB demonstrates some impeccable power, polish and technique.
Concept and Functionality:
Gaming apps are a dime a dozen, but this app takes a timeless function and turns it into an incredible game. It has a “party mode” on the iPad so I can easily see Reading Arena being adapted into a board game, or simply being used on the iPad by an entire family.
It runs extremely well and is bright, dynamic and beautiful. An electric blue color scheme permeates the app throughout, and demonstrates true craftsmanship, with an ability to balance form and function in perfect harmony.
Cheers to the developers of this game! The game is free and is probably worth a $4.99 price tag at the very minimum.
A huge plus of Reading Arena is that it’s designed to be extremely replayable and never loses its full effect. We recommend this game to advanced learners, young adults, those who love the NYTimes Crossword Puzzle, and curious gamers who want to learn about different education apps and types gameplay.
The app runs extremely well and delivers on basically every front. If you’ve gotten through this review, then you can read like a champion. That means you’re prepared for the Reading Arena app and should stop reading and get to downloading right now!
Reading Arena requires iOS 5.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
