As someone who is not only not photogenic but also awkward in front of the camera, I usually shy away from group photos or anything that has to do with flash photography. Some people just know how to strike a pose when the spotlight is on them, but unfortunately I’m not one of those people.
Lucky for me (and probably for at least a couple of you readers), there’s an app out there that can help lessen some of that awkward posing. That app? Posing Time, an app developed by Sergei Vinogradov, is looking to solve this problem.
Concept and Functionality:
Posing Time is a perfect app for those who do not know how to pose for pictures, but also ideal for anyone trying to refine their portrait photography skills.
This app comes with more than 100 different poses, so just when you thought that you’d have to go for your default camera pose, you have much more to choose from. To begin, all you have to do is open up the app then choose from one of eight categories including couples, children, family and even nude (for you daring photographers).
Once you choose a category, you’ll be shown a number of different poses within that category. You have the option to favorite this pose (for future references), zoom in on it in case you want to get a close look and take a photo using this pose.
How exactly does this work? When you click “Camera”, you’ll be taken to your camera which will have a silhouette of the selected pose in the shot, which you can use to take the perfect snapshot.
Posing Time is possibly one of the most organized apps I’ve ever used. Because its concept is simple, there aren’t too many miscellaneous features that are included. The features that are included are in fact, very useful.
The homescreen shows all of the pose categories and, at the bottom, there are options for “My Shots,” “Favorites” and “Settings.” The first option will show you the photos you’ve taken using the silhouettes. You can view your favorite poses when you click on favorites. Plus, if you want to change the opacity of the silhouette on the camera, just switch over to “settings,” and you’ll be good to go.
Considering that Posting Time costs $1.99, it sounds like a steep price to pay for an app that only teaches you how to pose. But think about it this way — by paying for the app, you’ll have absolutely no ads creeping up during your sessions and you have access to every single pose in the pose library.
Not to mention, where else will you find an app that will not only teach you how to pose at weddings, but also if you’re pregnant!
Posing Time is certainly a unique app with some really cool features that a lot of apps do not have. So have a little fun with Posing Time — get dolled up and get comfortable in front of the camera, because now there’s no reason not to strike a perfect pose!
