Every day, we experience emotions. And whether we’re hungry or sad, have you ever wondered if there were other people out there who shared your feelings? Sure, misery loves company, but in a lot of cases, people tend to feel a little bit better when they know that someone is going through the same thing they are.
Concept and Functionality:
With just one picture and one word, you have access to know how others all over the globe are feeling. Since you don’t need to post full-fledged descriptions of how your heart’s aching or how elated you are, people everywhere can understand you, even if they only speak a little bit of English. And even if they don’t speak English, with help from the picture you post, people can probably understand what you’re trying to express.
So how do you go about finding people in the app? Instead of a traditional scroll type of feed, when you first log into your app, you’re presented with a map which pinpoints your location. If you see other pins in the area, that means there’s someone nearby who also uses the Imagini app!
When you want to share how you’re feeling, all you have to do is go to the camera button then take a photo of yourself or grab a photo from your own photos. Once you’ve done that, an “Express” option will come up on the screen, and all you have to do then is type the emotion you’re feeling. Then press next and share how you’re feeling to the world! Then you’ll be placed on the map, and you’ll most likely see yourself on the homepage in one of the recent categories.
What’s really great about Imagini is that unlike a lot of map-centric apps, when you want to skip from location to location within the app, it doesn’t take very long to load the map.
In fact, it takes maybe a second or two for the map to load, which is really great. If you want to learn more about someone based on their emotion, you can click on their photo, say “Me too!” if that’s how you’re feeling as well, and even visit the profile to follow them or just to see what other ways they’ve been feeling in the past.
If you’re feeling a little random, on the side, you can choose from four different categories including vibrant, mellow, dull, dark. When people put up photos, you’ll also see that their emotions are color-coded based on the four categories.
So if you choose “vibrant”, you’ll see users who are in happier moods, as opposed to those who fall under the “dark” category.
Imagini is a great app for knowing that you’re not alone, be it in celebration or sadness. Though the user interface can be a little busy at times, the goal of the app is very genuine, and one that has the potential to help people who might simply be having a bad day or suffering from depression.
The Imagini app is definitely worth a try, because it’s certainly a one-of-a-kind app.
Imagini requires iOS 5.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
