Joy Tales Books! The Read Along Educational App for Children, Parents and Teachers
iPhone App Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
It’s not difficult to find storybook apps for kids on the App Store. It can, however, be challenging to find stories that are fun to read and easy to follow along with.
Joy Tales Books, developed by Desdoo, is a fascinating compilation of children’s stories for iPhone and iPad. Packed with features and extra goodies, this is one storybook app that’s a must-have for any collection.
Concept and Functionality:
The first thing I tend to look for when I’m reviewing a children’s app or game is ease-of-use. Thankfully Joy Tales Books passes my ease-of-use test with flying colors.
Kids should immediately be able to pick up on how to navigate their way around the app, and I absolutely love how easy the menu is to use. It’s very easy to select which book you or your child would like to read.
Your little ones can choose from seven different books in Joy Tales Books, each with its own life lesson to be learned. Some of the books even come with a game for kids to play, which is always a nice bonus.
Joy Tales Books offers a few neat things that I haven’t seen in other children’s storybook apps, including a parental preview of the story that explains what lessons children should take away from it.
There’s also an informative blurb about the scientific nature of the star animal in each story. To read through one of the seven stories in Joy Tales Books, simply tap on a story and watch it unfold in front of you.
Everything comes to life thanks to detailed illustrations and animations. Many of the pages in each story are interactive, too. If parents or kids need to stop a story, Joy Tales Books includes the option to bookmark progress so kids don’t lose their spot.
From fantastic animations and illustrations to narration that’s very easy to understand and follow along with, I wholeheartedly believe that Joy Tales Books is a fantastic storybook app for kids.
The stories are cheery enough to be entertaining, yet the underlying morals and lessons are strong and important for kids to learn and understand.
Perhaps the coolest feature Joy Tales Books offers is the ability for parents to record their own story narration.
Though the process to do this can be a little bit tricky and might take more than a couple of tries, it’s something that’s definitely fun to do.
I was pleased to hear how well the audio came out, and it’s definitely a feature that makes Joy Tales Books stand out from other storybook apps.
Another neat feature in Joy Tales Books is support for nine different languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, German, French, Russian, Japanese, Italian and Portuguese.
Narration is also available in four different languages: English, Italian, Spanish and German. Such a wide variety of language support means that Joy Tales Books is an excellent tool for parents of multilingual kids.
Joy Tales Books is available to download from the App Store for $13.99 and is universally compatible with iPhone and iPad.
While the price might seem steep, keep in mind that you’re essentially getting seven different stories in one app.
These aren’t short stories that last only a few pages, either.
Overall, I definitely believe Joy Tales Books is the perfect children’s storybook app for parents who are looking for a wonderful alternative to physical storybooks.
Finally, if this is at all of interest, do yourself a favor and check out their cool video.
