You’ll have to blast your way around a planet and destroy obstacles and enemies aplenty to survive this one, and the cosmic atmosphere won’t be quite as forgiving as you might like.
While this app is still in development, its early version still took me on a wild ride and proved that In A Space can capitalize on a vision that’s literally out of this world.
This game has two central motifs; there’s the intergalactic map and interface that’ll have you navigate options, settings, characters, bonuses, boosts, and plenty of goodies that are constantly being unveiled.
Then there’s the actual planet that you drop into at full force smack dab in the middle of outer space. It’s once this actual action mode occurs that In A Space really shines.
At this point you’ll witness some of the tremendous three-dimensional capabilities of this app, and you’ll be able to wrap your head around some truly immersive app atmospheres.
You’ll literally guide your character across, over, behind and above the planet as you zigzag between enemies from every angle. Blast through them to get little goodies and keep it moving to survive wave after wave.
As expected, holding your own for long enough will allow you to advance to the next level, and that’s when you’ll be transported back to the original interface once more.
Concept and Functionality:
This app is still in early development, but we’ve got faith that this is going to be one smooth ride soon enough. For now we still experienced some loading crashes and various bugs, but you’ll be hard pressed to find a single flawless app that’s 100% ready before it hits the app store.
The developers themselves were extremely gracious when sending this app across. After getting the private download and setting the app up once, I was able to blast through enemies and marvel at the three-dimensional environment that they had created.
Not perfect yet, but getting there. In A Space is going to be a Star Wars meets Eastern Star Trek, phenomenon that lets you touch the stars in your very own bedroom.
In a Space requires iOS 6.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
