News Item: Alien Mania

With Flappy Bird out the door, you’re probably looking for a new arcade game to whittle away the hours with. If that’s the case, then we might have the suggestion for you! Infinite Wave Media have announced the release of Alien Mania, a brand new like-object matching game for the iPhone and iPad. The game offers an engaging concept, and by all indications, is a the sort of title one could easily spend a couple dozen hours with.
If you’re familiar with games like Bejeweled, then you’ll already have a handle on how Alien Mania behaves — for the most part. However, it brings some fresh innovations to the table. For instance, the app is all about matching like-minded objects in any direction necessary. This means up, down, left, right and diagonal, too.
You’ll also find Alien Mania a bit more extraterritorially focused than any of the other matching multiplayer games you might have played before. All of the tokens you’ll be forced to align are shaped like happy little aliens, providing a unique setting and tone for the game.
The developers promise smooth gameplay as well, thanks to the title’s simplistic one-touch mechanic. Just drag a finger from alien to alien in order to play. The high score might require a little more effort, however.
The game also comes loaded with Facebook compatibility, as well as multiplayer tournaments. We’re excited to see what our readers think of both of these, but if we had to guess, we’d wager it’s a lot of fun to compete against your friends. And for those that are inclined to compete for accomplishments—as I most certainly am—you’ll get Game Center integration here, too.
Oh, and did we mention the local high score board, too? Because it’s here in all of its roommate competing glory. Leave the game out on a table and wait until your friends have added their scores to the works. Then, crush them mercilessly. After all, isn’t that the American dream?
Alien Mania costs a whopping nothing in the App Store, though it arrives at our door with advertisements to offset that incredible value. If you prefer, you can of course pay a dollar to remove theses advertisements: An addition we assume most of the players that truly enjoy Alien Mania will jump upon.
All in all, Alien Mania looks like a solid way to kill a few lazy hours at the end of your work day. You can snag it in the iTunes App Store right now, or for more information, you can visit Infinite Wave Media’s website here. And while you’re there, be sure to check out some of the developer’s other excellent applications too, like Timer, Flash Cards, and Loud Alarm.
Alien Mania requires iOS 6.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
