If you’ve ever struggled to find events to attend in your local area, this might just be the solution.
Concept and Functionality:
While social calendars aren’t a new thing, a database of public calendars is certainly something I personally haven’t come across.
31Squares is unique in that it allows users to see what sort of events are happening in their local area and add these events to their own calendar.
To use 31Squares effectively, simply sign up with the website within the app and optionally import your contacts. Thankfully the latter isn’t a requirement, but if you’re looking to be able to quickly invite friends along to an event, you’ll need to add them to the app.
Once everything is set up, you can start browsing the 31Squares directory for events. I absolutely love how everything is neatly organized by event type because users don’t have to spend a ton of time sifting through events they’re not interested in.
It’s also worth mentioning that 31Squares allows you to follow public calendars by adding them to your personal calendar. This is a wonderful option for those who would like to follow a particular venue.
Overall, 31Squares is packed with plenty of features to help users find the sort of events they’d like to attend. The app is very easy to use and navigate, and it’ll certainly grow in functionality as more users sign up and add their own calendars.
As far as features go, it certainly seems like 31Squares has every base covered. One of my favorite features 31Squares offers is the fact that users must sign up as event partners in order to have their event featured in the Event Showcase.
This means no spam or junk to sort through when searching for events. This type of thing is a problem that plagues other social calendar services.
I’m incredibly happy to see that 31Squares takes extra measures to make sure junk doesn’t make its way into the important parts of the app.
However, there’s one feature that’s missing which I’d love to see integrated into the service. I think it’d be incredible if 31Squares offered Facebook integration for applicable business pages.
Once a page has successfully signed up as a 31Squares Events Partner, any events they create on their Facebook page would be synced with the app.
To take this idea a step further, users could even connect 31Squares with Facebook to see events for pages they’ve liked.
31Squares is available to download for free from the App Store and is currently compatible with iPhone.
If you’ve ever wondered what sort of events are going on in your area, or if you’ve had a hard time keeping track of what you’d like to do, 31Squares is certainly worth taking a look at!
