This game allows you to navigate tricky, puzzle-esque terrain, in either forest or desert environments. The primary objective is to save prisoners of war from their captors, and the user does so by swooping them up directly into their helicopter.
You’ll get your fair share of thrills and spills in this title, and at the very reasonable price of free, Chopper Time can’t be beat.
Complete each level to unlock the next, and start off in the Desert to try your hand at some helicopter fun. But don’t think that you’ll breeze through each stage here, as you’ll have to dodge barriers and bombs to successfully swoop the prisoners and rescue them intact.
Each prisoner rescued will add weight to your helicopter, and its real-time in-app adjustments like this that help to give this app a challenging edge to it.
Altogether, there are 24 action-packed levels across two worlds, and enough competitive edge and variety to keep even the most seasoned veterans on their heels.
You’ll also have three types of missiles to choose from, and will have to figure out how to most effectively combat your enemy while you dart up and down, left and right.
Concept and Functionality:
The only downside of this app is the ad-space that dominates the lower banner of the screen, and appears after ending a mission or being destroyed. However, since the app is free, this ad-centric model is warranted, and doesn’t detract significantly from the app in a major way.
In general, this app takes themes from various other games (the original “Helicopter Game” for one) and weaves them into a title all of its own. The game is challenging, and not for those who are squeamish either, as the risk of being utterly destroyed is relatively high.
The app provides consistent updates, including a significant update to version 1.1 less than two weeks ago, and provides its gamers with a fun experience at no charge.
The app isn’t quite perfect, but it’s pretty darn close. We had a great time playing this title, and were especially pleased not to simply breeze from one level to the next.
It’ll take finesse and skill to master Chopper Time: Hostage Search and Rescue but your effort will be well worth it. Now what are you waiting for, it’s time to take off!
Chopper Time: Hostage Search and Rescue requires iOS 4.3 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
