In the vein of both Snapchat and Facebook Messenger, Wiink has come strong out of the gate in hopes of displacing our favorite messengers and video sharing services with one swift release.
By combining some of the best features of our favorite communication apps, Wiink creates a comprehensive, multi-service app that boasts multiple modes of peer-to-peer sharing, “infinite cloud storage”, and a whole host of other highly sought after features.
The primary feature of Wiink is the bite sized, thirty-second videos that are sent through the app.
Videos can be sent according to a specific schedule for precise delivery, (already far more comprehensive than Snapchat’s record and send functionality) and are then self-destructed after opening.
Wiink promises not to retain any videos on their servers, and brings most of their features with user peace of mind at the forefront of their development.
Chats can be video or text based, and also can be shared between individuals or between groups. All communication can be password protected as well, adding even more user comfort to this highly comprehensive and conscientious app.
Concept and Functionality:
Wiink takes the seamless, instant connections of Facebook Messenger, the erasable, video chat functions of Snapchat and the high-resolution video functionality of new iOS models, to create a handy and impeccable app.
The app itself is free, lightweight, and generally well constructed.
The app has a clean look, and a well crafted presentation that does justice to its high level of functionality.
Those who don’t utilize their phone for video messaging as much won’t find this app to be such a crucial download, but for younger demographics and video fanatics, the multitudes of functionality and ease of use here are bound to be a big turn-on.
This app is free and could easily be priced at $2.99 or more. If you’ve got a large peer group or are in any dire need of video communication, this app may just be right up your ally.
The presentation is clean, the app runs fluidly, and the company’s commitment to user security puts them over the top.
We’ve seen apps at ten times the cost (let’s say $10) with half of the polish and functionality. For this reason and more, it’s definitely worth it to give Wiink a try.
Wiink requires iOS 5.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
