iPhone App Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
Concept and Functionality:
I believe it’s safe to say that most of us have counted down to a particular day at some point in our lives. Heck, you’re likely counting down the time until an important event right now.
It’s easy to lose track of how long it is until the day arrives, so an app like Timeless is the perfect companion.
This lightweight countdown timer can display multiple countdown dates in a streamlined and clean interface, making it a true pleasure to use.
All of your active countdown timers in Timeless are displayed in a list.
You can see how many days there are until the specified date, and tapping on a timer will take you to a new window where you can see a more detailed view of your timer, such as the exact time left until the day arrives (days, hours, minutes, and seconds).
The timer’s background also includes a plethora of random images from Flickr, adding a nice twist that definitely gives Timeless a classy feel.
Creating a new timer in Timeless is incredibly fast and simple. Simply swipe your finger to the right while viewing your timers or press the plus button at the top of the app. From there, all you have to do is give your event a title, select the exact date and time of your event, and choose the color of your timer.
Timeless, though very simple and straightforward, lacks a couple of important features that would make it an even better countdown app. The first feature (and perhaps the most important) is the lack of a year selector when setting the date of a new timer.
Users who are looking to create a timer for a date years in the future will have to do so by manually scrolling day by day, which is overwhelming and unnecessary. The same could probably be said for months, as well. Therefore, I definitely recommend that Timeless should switch to a format that keeps days, months, and years separate from each other.
Another feature that I’d love to see expanded is one that already exists in Timeless, which is notifications. Currently the app includes notifications for approaching days, but they’re presets.
Currently the app notifies users when the event is arriving on these days: 1 day, 3 days, 5 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. Though these are fairly standard increments, I think it would be better for users to be able to customize when they receive notifications.
Timeless can be downloaded from the App Store for free and is available for iPhone. While it has a few kinks that need to be worked out, I wholeheartedly believe that the app is on the right track. If you’re looking for a new countdown timer to try, Timeless is certainly worth taking a look at.
Timeless requires iOS 7.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
