In the vein of ‘Walking Dead’ and the general zombie craze that seems to be gaining steam (signs of an impending Zombie Apocalypse, you tell me?), we’re now delighted to share Zombie Hammering, from HiddenQuest, with you.
This is a brand new little app that many of you gamers are going to want to download right away.
Boasting ‘cathartic super touch action’, this app delivers just that. It allows you to mash at the screen and hammer away at Zombies until they’re nothing but a bloody pulp.
For an app that’s far fewer than 100 MB, Zombie Hammering manages to pack quite a punch. It features a total of 100 levels, 3 types of mission stages, various bosses, and a whole variety of boosts, power ups, and miscellaneous options.
Users earn various power ups depending on the difficulty and type of zombie that they encounter. Users defend themselves by utilizing the touch functionality of the app to actually hammer away at the zombies, which pop up with alarming frequency.
With a whole lot of stimuli popping up every which way, colors flying, blood splattering and rampant zombie bloodlust, this app is really highly entertaining and addictive as well.
Concept and Functionality:
This is as close as you can get to playing ‘whac a mole’ on your mobile device.
There’s actually a level of functionality that we haven’t seen too much, as usually touch gameplay functionality emphasizes sliding, flicking, shooting and dodging.
The idea that you’ve got a whole gang of zombies to slay, and that you do so by pounding away with your fingers, ultimately makes for a game that is a delightful heart pumping, finger exhausting, and zombie crushing experience all around.
If anything, Zombie Hammering is a little too addictive. I got lost in the hunt for vengeance here and played until my fingers were sore.
But we can’t really fault the developers for that sort of thing, especially seeing how they’ve created a game that is both immensely gratifying and highly habit forming at the same time.
You can’t go wrong with free. And you also can’t go wrong with fun.
This app is definitely worth a spin, and if you’ve got a knack for the newest games out, then Zombie Hammering should make the cut.
It has an arcade-esque feel, and a thrilling tempo that’s bound to keep you coming back for more. And besides, the survival of the human race depends on it!
Zombie Hammering requires iOS 5.1 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
