iPhone App Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
We’ve got one for the funky app lovers, that’s for sure! x2yMorph, from Lindquist Systems, Inc., is essentially a handy little photo-blending app, that’s not for the faint of heart, although it does not take long to get the hang of it.
By selecting “control points” in multiple locations, across two photographs, users can begin to actually integrate the two photos together.
The app itself is sort of like an abbreviated Photoshop, allowing both experts and beginners alike to try their hand at the joys of photo editing and more so, morphing.
This app boasts a “multiformat image display mode” that lets you witness all stages of the morphing process at once.
You can see the beginning image, end image, and currently morphing image, by paying attention to this display feature.
Color-coded markers help to differentiate the different stages of photo editing, and with a bit of experimentation, most users will be able to get the hang of this quite quickly.
This app is really chock-full of features, and makes photo blending quite simple and ultimately hilarious.
Concept and Functionality:
I can hear you asking a very valid question right now. When will I need this app and what good does it actually do? This is especially valid considering that the app does cost $1.99, and better pay for its own weight with photo morphing goodness.
Here’s your number one scenario: you want to combine your beloved grandmother with a ferocious lion, or maybe even a mermaid.
Maybe grandma has a sense of humor, or maybe you just feel like startling her with the immensely obscure, yet comprehensive capabilities of modern-day technology.
Well, simply by uploading both desired images, selecting control points, and then experimenting with different blends, you will be able to turn your grandmother into a brand new being.
You might think, well, why the hell would I want to do that? Again, you would be asking a very valid question. But then again you might have some very interesting results by turning your 2 year old into yourself and seeing all the steps in between.
It’s hard to say whether this app actually justifies spending $1.99. It certainly is a niche market, albeit one that has been growing rapidly in recent months. (See Diplo’s photo-morphed image with Nicki Minaj that’s recently gone viral.)
Regardless, if you’ve actually got photo-morphing on your to do list, this app is probably one of the best on the market at getting the job done.
It’s got a huge plethora of comprehensive features that are really quite impressive when it comes to photo editing through iPhone or iPod Touch.
So all of that being said, why not give it a whirl and turn your dog into a fire hydrant?
x2yMorph requires iOS 5.1 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
