Dragon Slayers – Epic RPG
iPhone Game Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
Dragon Slayers, a game by Charlie Choi, is described as being an app that brings “PC-style” gaming to a mobile iOS platform. Boasted to be a top game in South Korea, Dragon Slayers has just recently been released to the US market.
Filled with adventure, Dragon Slayers pits players against ferocious beasts and sends them on exciting quests. A storyline throughout the entire game keeps players informed of their mission at any given time, and players can choose the role of a knight or a mage.
Setting up an account in the app is simple and merely requires choosing a character/user name. Missions in Dragon Slayer range dramatically and seem to increase in complexity the further a player advances in the game.
Fighting in Dragon Slayer is fairly satisfactory, as enemy characters are made adequately difficult to overcome without being impossibly frustrating.
The in-app sound effects also align well with the fighting action. Perhaps one of the most impressive features of Dragon Slayer is the 360-view of the in-game world; this view really gives players a “bird’s eye view” of the world and fully shows the quality of the graphics of the game.
While the actual app costs about $4, in-app purchases can be made to acquire more “coins” that can then be spent on getting more useful tools in the app. Coins can also be collected for free through defeating enemies and raiding their camps.
Appearance and Layout:
The graphics of Dragon Slayers are undeniably impressive. Sketchbook-style graphics greet players and inform them of the story into which their character has been placed.
For anyone playing Dragon Slayers on an iPhone, the small size of the font for this introductory storyline will make it difficult to read, but anyone playing on an iPad should not have this problem. However, the graphics in the actual RPG part of Dragon Slayers has its own style apart from this sketchbook-type introduction.
Dragon Slayers’ layout is also pretty easy to navigate, and setting up your chosen character is an extremely streamlined process.
Dragon Slayers is currently priced $3.99, placing it towards the somewhat higher priced end of iOS games. While its graphics are definitely impressive and its game play of a better quality than that of most other iOS games, this price will probably still deter many potential customers.
However, for anyone who really enjoys PC RPG games, this price on Dragon Slayers will easily be seen as minor in comparison to the fees often required in such PC games.
Overall, Dragon Slayers is a fun, well-designed game, and will probably appeal to anyone who is already into similar games.
Dragon Slayers – Epic RPG iPhone app requires iOS 5.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
