When Googling for a solution to an issue doesn’t work, sometimes you have to break down and go old school. This means tracking down a customer service number, navigating through countless menus, eventually reaching a live person if needed. What if there was a way to make this unnecessarily complicated process nearly painless?

Zappix is the perfect app for anyone who absolutely dreads having to call customer service. Developed by Zappix Ltd., this app allows users to zip through customer service menus as quickly as possible.

Concept and Functionality:

Zappix promises to be the answer to everyone’s customer service woes, but does it live up to its lofty aspirations? It works by providing users with a massive database of customer service numbers.

On the app’s main screen, users are greeted with 24 different categories of companies, as well as a small “Featured” section which highlights new or popular businesses. You have the option of giving the app access to your location, which allows it to pinpoint your state in order to include local customer service numbers.

The state-based menu doesn’t look any different from the national menu, though, and I didn’t have much luck with finding local businesses and companies.

Once you’ve located the business you’d like to call, Zappix allows you to navigate through menu choices within the app (such as language, customer service department, etc.) and then dials the number for you, eventually switching over to the native iPhone phone app.

A small notification will appear at the top of your screen asking if you’d like to enable the visual menu. Basically this is a visual depiction of Zappix automatically navigating through phone menus and showing you a progress bar. Sounds awesome, right? It is!

What does an app like Zappix mean for users? You no longer have to spend an eternity on the phone repeating menu choices or re-dialing because you selected the wrong option. Zappix allows you to take your time and visually navigate through the call menu within the app, giving you a chance to find the right department and cut down on a ton of wasted time.

Features:

One of my favorite things about Zappix is that it functions like a secondary phone app. It can keep track of all of your recent phone numbers that you’ve dialed within the app, as well as your favorite companies.

I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say that tracking down a customer service phone number can be borderline impossible for some companies, and the vast number of businesses within the Zappix directory means you hopefully no longer have to search the web high and low for a number.

Unfortunately I have to mention that even though a business might be listed within Zappix, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the visual menu is available for that particular company.

This doesn’t make the app useless, though, because you’re still getting the customer service number you’re looking for. I also noticed that the app doesn’t include very many local phone numbers, so the chances of finding a number for a business that’s centrally located like your electric company are fairly slim. Hopefully this’ll change in the future as Zappix expands.

Value:

Zappix is available to download from the App Store for free, but that isn’t the only reason why it’s an incredibly valuable app to have. The amount of time and frustration you’ll save by being able to not only find the customer service number you’re looking for, but also navigate through the menu with ease is astounding.

I definitely recommend downloading it if you frequently find yourself calling customer service for major companies.
