Though the digital age is very real and very here, many of us are pestered by old-school nuisances such as paper documents that tend to cause clutter. There are plenty of options available to help convert physical documents to digital format, but most of them cost an arm and a leg. Why not use a device you already have to do the job?
WorldScan Pro, developed by Xiamen Worldscan Information Technology Co., Ltd., is an incredibly useful and intuitive document scanning app for iPhone. Forget about spending a small fortune on a heavy-duty scanner or file organizer; this app can do it all for an extremely inexpensive price.
Concept and Functionality:
WorldScan Pro attempts to make the process of scanning documents on your iPhone not only possible, but also easy. While plenty of apps try to achieve this, the results are usually not that great.
WorldScan Pro, however, includes enough features to allow users to clean up documents and make them look like they were scanned with a desktop device.
How does it work? Simply place your document on a flat surface of a different color and take a photo of it within WorldScan Pro. The app will attempt to detect the corners of the document (though you can automatically adjust this if needed) and the app crops the scan so the document fits the page. From there, you can make aesthetic tweaks and finally export the scan to a PDF file.
WorldScan Pro allows users to not only scan documents, but also receipts, business cards, and other physical documents. Much like Evernote’s web clipper, WorldScan Pro can be used to scan and keep track of documents in the physical realm.
One of my favorite things about the app is the ability to save scanned documents within the app without exporting them to your camera roll, meaning you can keep track of them easier.
WorldScan Pro has plenty of features that make it a truly spectacular scanning app, many of which are mentioned above. From detailed image editing to the ability to scan all sorts of documents, there’s really no limit to what the app is capable of.
You can even choose paper sizes, categorize scans with tags, and easily export scans to share with others. If you need to scan a document with multiple pages, WorldScan Pro handles the task with ease.
If you’re pressed for time and you don’t want to edit pages right away, the app allows you to conduct fast batch scanning.
While WorldScan Pro offers plenty of features to adjust the scanned document, I do want to remind users that the quality of the scan heavily relies on the quality of your camera and the document itself. In order for it to be effective, you need to make sure you’re taking the photo in a well-lit area so it appears clear. It’s a bit of trial and error at the beginning, but once you’re used to the app, you’ll be seeing excellent results in no time.
WorldScan Pro is available to download from the App Store for $2.99, which is an excellent price considering what the app is capable of. It’s packed with features that are extremely useful to anyone who is serious about scanning documents with their iPhone.
If you’re reluctant and you’d like to see how the app works without spending any money, there’s a free version of WorldScan available.
