WhacksThat by Francis Charland is a fun app that brings to life that old-fashion arcade-style game of whacking moles (or other creatures) as they pop up around the screen.

Featuring easy, finger tap/swipe controls, WhacksThat is an app that is great for kids or anyone looking for a quick, easy-to-learn new game.

WhacksThat boasts of being an entertaining game, and after playing it I would certainly have to agree myself. WhacksThat is a pleasant combination of challenge and fun, allowing users to enjoy their gaming experience without being too bored or too frustrated.

There are 24 different levels in this app, with 3 different steps/missions to complete per level. The difficulty of each level seemed to be appropriately built on the level before it, and 3 different difficulty levels can also be chosen in order to personalize a player’s WhacksThat experience.

Two overall modes are also currently featured in this app; specifically speaking, players choose between “Classic” and “Endless.” Peppy music plays in the background of this app, and this upbeat theme song flows perfectly with the fun, light-hearted mood of the app in general.

Appearance and Layout:

The graphics of WhacksThat are definitely impressive. Each level features a fun background theme, with the first gang of fairly hideous little creatures popping up all around a bathroom.

Learning to play WhacksThat is also easy, as first-time users are walked through a quick tutorial prior to starting a level; this tutorial informs them of their mission/goal for the level and tells them of the items that they want to tap/collect, as well as those that they should avoid.

Navigating through WhacksThat is similarly simple; the homepage for the app allows users to quickly switch between difficulty modes and to access all of their unlocked challenges.

WhacksThat currently costs $1.99 through the iTunes Store, and while it is definitely a great game, this price may easily deter the curiosity of new players.

The graphics and game play of the app are notably better than what other app’s offer, but for those who prefer to only try out “free” games, WhacksThat probably won’t be seen as worth its price.
