iPhone Game Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
Concept and Gameplay:
Of all the puzzle games I’ve played, I must admit that Quads undoubtedly breaks the mold. Even though it’s only been on the App Store for a couple of days, this game has already proven to be a hit among the iPhone and iPad community. After a few minutes of playing, I could easily see why.
The goal of Quads is to use quick judgment to determine which color on the board takes up the greatest amount of space. Each square is considered a quad, and you’re supposed to choose the color that contains the most quads.
If you choose successfully, the color will disappear in the number of quads it contained are added to your score. The round will continue until the timer runs out, but you can add more time to your round by consistently choosing the correct color.
When your round is completed, you’re able to see your score for the round, as well as your overall high score. You can also view trophies that you’ve earned and local high scores.
Though it might sound like a fairly simple game, Quads is an incredible puzzle game that blends spectacular graphics and animations with an original game concept. Both casual players and serious puzzlers will enjoy Quads, as it’s a flexible game that can be as easy or as challenging as the player wants.
The biggest feature Quads offers is the ability to purchase boosts that will help enhance gameplay. From bombs to an automatic color selector, these boosts serve the purpose of making the most of your round time boosts are purchased using quads, and quads are accumulated by combining all of your overall round scores.
One thing I do want to mention is that the game is very playable without using boosts, but they’re still handy to have available.
Also, players who grow tired of the game’s color scheme can choose from a wide variety of themes located within Quads’ settings menu. This is a great feature that allows players to switch things up a bit and add a fresh twist to the game.
Quads is available to download from the App Store for free and is universally compatible with both iPhone and iPad. Users can optionally purchase 50,000 quads for $0.99, but that’s only if you’re looking to purchase boosts.
If you’ve been searching for a new puzzle game to try that will quickly become your favorite, Quads is definitely a must-have.
Quads requires iOS 4.3 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
