iPhone Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
When you’ve got a lot to jot down, sometimes the generic Notepad app just doesn’t do the trick. If you find yourself constantly making lists or memos, MemoZy, developed by DesignPlusD, is here to make your life a little easier.
Concept and Functionality:
Despite the fact that there here are a lot of note taking apps out there, MemoZy is a creative combination of user experience, design and productivity. Because there are a lot of different gestures to remember in order to use this app successfully, it’s recommended that you watch the interactive tutorial first.
Once you get the hang of MemoZy, though, it gets to be pretty fun. You can start creating categories for your memos just by one swipe anywhere on the screen. No matter how many categories you decide to make, the app will adapt the sizes of each section to maintain its cool look.
Want to move your memos around? All you have to do is hold down any note of your choice and drag it to the desired position. Need to add another bullet point to a category? One touch and the app automatically adds a new line to your list.
What’s great about MemoZy is that in addition to showing you what categories you have, the app will also tell you how any memos are in each category. So if you’re trying to cross off a lot of notes in one section, you can just visit the main page to check.
MemoZy is striking at first glance because it looks very different from other note taking apps. You can choose to customize MemoZy with one of ten different color palates, edit the texture of the background or even the shadowing of the font. These may seem like trivial details, but for those with an eye for design, it’s much appreciated that these options are also included.
Though there is no real limit on the number of categories you can create within MemoZy, but once you get past about 20 or more categories, the app starts to look cluttered. On the other hand, I never felt the need to use more than eight categories at one time, so like me, you might never be faced with a cluttered-looking app.
The experience that MemoZy gives its user is refreshingly different. Apps are starting to get fairly predictable, so when I started using MemoZy, I was surprised by how familiar yet new this app felt. Despite a couple of accidental swipes here and there, the gestures are overall intuitive. It might be a cool feature to have an option to set a reminder for notes, but it’s nothing that would dramatically improve the app.
As someone with a love for good design, I liked all of the customization possibilities that Memozy offers. Customization makes an otherwise tedious activity – notetaking – into something more enjoyable and even therapeutic.
Ready to get your thoughts organized? MemoZy is waiting for you in the App Store.
