iPhone App Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
Real estate is something we hear about in the news on a seemingly daily basis. Whether the market is up or down, chances are there are folks who need to move regardless. There are countless sites out there, but how many of them cater to those who are looking to relocate abroad?
Concept and Functionality:
Real estate search apps require a fine balance of functionality, fluid design, and information in order to be effective. TheMoveChannel.com looks to be an incredible, well-established real estate site, so I definitely had high hopes for trying out this handy app.
When searching, you can specify country, area, minimum and maximum price, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and property type. I was able to display results by selecting only one type of property (house, land, apartment, or commercial) instead of multiple properties.
Once properties load, TheMoveChannel.com displays them in list format for easy viewing. You can see listing photos, as well as read the detailed property description and inquire about the listing for more information. The only bad part about seeing a large number of listing results is that you don’t have the option to sort them by price, location, or even the number of days on the market. Lacking these refinements makes the process of looking through listings a bit more difficult.
TheMoveChannel.com, though fairly simple, does include a few features that help to make it a viable real estate app. You can set up alerts so you’re notified when new properties appear on the site or if a listing you’re watching changes. You can also search through numerous aforementioned parameters in order to find the property you’re looking for.
However, there are a few missing features that would really make TheMoveChannel.com stand out from the crowd. The best addition would be a currency selection setting, which is a no-brainer seeing as the site caters to international users. Currently you can only view prices in GBP, not USD or other currencies supported on the website. Also, a visible map would definitely help prospective buyers get a visual idea as to where properties are located.
TheMoveChannel.com is available to download for free from the App Store and is definitely an app to check out if you’re in the market for a new house, apartment, or other property. The app itself is a bit dated, though, and is approaching a year since its release without an update. Hopefully it’ll get updated in the near future.
TheMoveChannel.com requires iOS 5.1 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
