iPhone Game Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
We’ve mentioned it time and time again, but we’re tremendous fans of puzzle games. We love anything that stretches out our brains, and makes us think a little harder. This is why we’re so totally stoked to be bringing you a review of Quizpics, from 2TANGO PTY LTD, today.
The game offers a surprisingly fun way to guess phrases and words from your iPhone, using nothing but a simple visual clue and an assortment of letters. It’s a great deal of fun, and it will have you tearing your hair out at times, too: As any good puzzle game should. And if you’re looking for our full review, you’ll find it tucked away below!
Concept and Functionality
The core idea behind Quizpics looks something like this: What if you could play pictionary from your phone? And what if that experience hinged on you correctly laying out set letters into a cohesive statement, using nothing but that visual prompt?
More or less, that’s exactly what you’ll get here! The game begins by allowing you to select a category of items to roll with. Then, it will start feeding you clues and letters, letting you smack them around until they start to make sense.
For instance, under the “Brands” category, an image of a burger sitting on a throne would obviously be referring to the brand Burger King. And so on and so forth, until you are finally stumped.
If you do get stuck on a hard one, the game won’t exactly throw you onto the chopping block for it. You’ll not get any points, save a few paltry coins, but you can spend your earned coins on hints and clues. And of course, if you happen to solve a prompt before the timer turns red, you’ll get a whopping 15 coins to put towards this end.
All in all, it’s a solid concept, and one that we enjoy quite a lot. If you’re concerned, yes—these puzzles can also be maddeningly difficult.
Artwork and Interface
On the one hand, we’re not just totally thrilled with the way that Quizpics looks: After all, we’ve certainly seen more unique designs in our puzzlers. But on the other hand, nothing about the application is impertinent, or seemingly unstable.
It’s all rock solid as can be, which we appreciated immensely. Furthermore, the colors are still bright, and the vibrant, hand-drawn illustrations do add a lot of charm to the mix. Tie it all together, and you get packaging that’s just alright, and certainly serviceable.
And at the end of the day, we’d have to be pretty daft to knock Quizpics for its value. The app is completely free in the App Store, making it one heck of a bargain, no matter how you slice it.
Add onto this the fact that you’ll not need to pay for any of its levels—you’re welcome to purchase coins for hints, though—and you’ve got an incredible deal.
Quizpics requires iOS 3.2 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
