If there’s one thing to be said about dating apps, it’s that they all have one goal in common; make it as easy as possible for users to meet new people in their area. Basic apps feature detailed personal profiles, photos, easy ways to chat and connect, and usually some sort of handy search tool to find just the guy or gal you might be interested in. What does this mean for developers? An app has to be pretty original in order to separate itself from the rest of the pack.

Jaumo, developed by Jaumo GmbH, is a free dating app that allows you to connect with people around the world to chat, flirt, and possibly even meet in person. The possibilities, and people available, are seemingly endless.

Concept and Functionality:

Jaumo promises a completely free way to meet thousands of singles where you live while keeping you secure. To start using the service, you can either connect the app with your Facebook account or create a separate login with your email address. The option of using an email address instead of forcing people to use their Facebook account is one of the subtle but excellent features of this app.

Once you’re in, Jaumo asks you to fill out your profile so the app can match you with users of similar interests. So far it sounds like the typical dating app, right?

After filling out your profile and providing as much (or as little) information as you like, you can start browsing profiles. You can do this without uploading a profile picture and you can even reply to incoming messages without a profile picture. But you have to have a profile picture to like someone or if you want to chat with someone. Jaumo seems to do a great job of filtering out the usual obscene photos, so you shouldn’t have to worry about seeing body parts instead of a face.

I hate to say it, but Jaumo didn’t seem to offer anything that really broke the mold as far as dating apps go. That being said, there are cool ways to navigate the app, such as swiping to the left to reveal a Facebook-like chat menu which displays users that are online and near you. Swiping to the right shows Jaumo’s menu where you can see your messages, search for users, and view your contacts.

There’s a silver lining for Jaumo, though, and it comes in the form of VIP membership. You see, the app uses coins as a currency for members to send each other virtual gifts as a way of flirting and communicating. These coins are earned by completing tasks such as uploading photos and verifying your email address. Along with gifts, 100 coins will buy you a month of Jaumo VIP membership, which unlocks features such as the ability to see who’s viewed your profile and having your profile show more often in search results.

Other than that, Jaumo is pretty simple to use and you can set up your profile to keep everything private . It’s easy to keep track of people you’re interested in by liking their profile. A very nice, and important, feature is that if you do like someone it is just for the owner of the profile you liked. She or he gets a notification about the like and it stays fully private between the two persons.

Jaumo can be downloaded from the App Store for free and doesn’t include hidden subscription fees or annoying ads. There are coin packs you can optionally purchase, though, ranging from 100 coins for $5.99 to 1000 coins for $33.99.

Overall, Jaumo doesn’t cost anything to try out and while there really isn’t anything earth-shattering about the app, it is a solid performer in this space. As always, be safe when surfing dating apps and don’t agree to meet someone in person without at least notifying a friend.

Jaumo sucks it is money making shit. Free to download and then just pay to become VIP, every feature is blocked and it constantly asks you to become vip, who knows even if you become vip, there could be fake accounts. You may not get anywhere. I don’t recommend this app. If some one knows a good app that is totally free, please post here.
