Fire Truck 3D
iPhone Game Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
Driving a car is one thing, but driving a fire truck is definitely something else. If you haven’t driven a fire truck before (and not many of us can say that we have), you’re in luck with Azerbo’s thrilling new driving simulation game, Fire Truck 3D.
Concept and Functionality:
Fire Truck 3D offers 45 levels split into three different cities: Bullhead City, Simsboro and San Alegre. All players start off as probationary firefighters in Bullhead City.
In order to unlock the other two places, users must score enough points to be promoted to titles such as captain and battalion chief by unlocking levels and playing more games.
The game can seem challenging at first. The default navigation control in the game is the steering wheel, but there are two other controls to choose from.
For me, the steering wheel control, as well as the rotational control, resulted in a low of swerving and crashing into cars. The arrow keys, on the other hand, worked best for me, though this might not be the case for other users.
There aren’t any tutorials or instructions, so I had to play a couple of times until I got the hang of it. Within these cities, there are two types of games that users can play: emergency and cone practice. With emergencies, players drive through the streets as quickly as possible while trying to avoid hitting other cars and other street objects.
If the cars get to be too much, you can double tap the throttle on the screen to turn on the siren to divert the cars.
Cone practice involves more precision and skill than speed and aim. The objective of this type of game is to make your way through the obstacle course without knocking over any of the cones that border the course. This sound easy, but when there are tight spaces and sharp angles that require three-point turns, the game gets a lot more interesting.
Though nothing beats the classic red fire truck, you have the option of choosing from a variety of trucks that vary in speed, handling, grip, weight and siren. The majority of these trucks, however, require that you be a title above firefighter in order to purchase them.
The graphics as well as the sound quality in this game are exceptional. When you drive onto a ramp, the timer will pause for a couple of seconds to give you a great 360-degree view of your jump. And when you aren’t able to veer away from a mine in the street (designated with a red circle), you’ll also catch some air – when the mine explodes!
Each level is different and exciting in its own way. Be it the number of cars on the streets, the way the cones are lined up, or the tight time constraints, you’ll keep playing until you can finally beat all of the levels.
I’ve played a lot of games on my iPhone, but not too many games can engage me as well as Fire Truck 3D does. If all the levels consisted of driving through the streets, I would get bored. But because the game switches between these emergency levels and cone practice levels, there’s a lot of variety to be had.
If you’re looking for a whole new gaming experience, Fire Truck 3D just might be that game.
