ABC Xenegugeli English Lite
iPhone App Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
It’s difficult to keep kids entertained when we’re trying to teach them new things. They get bored fairly quickly, and eventually their mind wanders off into the distance. Therefore, a successful children’s app needs to be creative in terms of being lighthearted and pleasant, yet exciting enough to capture and maintain a child’s attention.
ABC Xenegugeli English Lite, developed by Roland Zoss, is an entertaining and fun way for children to learn about the 26 letters of the English alphabet. A marvelous combination of great narrative and excellent animations makes this educational app one that every parent should own.
Concept and Functionality:
Parents who are familiar with perusing the App Store for educational apps and games for children are well aware of the fact that the variety of apps is pretty incredible. ABC Xenegugeli English Lite is one app that definitely sets itself apart from the rest of the pack. This is due to a great concept and design that really shows in terms of quality.
The goal of ABC Xenegugeli English Lite is to teach children about each letter of the alphabet in an exciting and unique way. The app almost reads like a book, and each page reveals a new animal which represents one of the letters in the English alphabet.
Not only are the illustrations in ABC Xenegugeli English Lite pure works of art, but the narration is very clear and easy for kids to understand. When a new page is turned, the narrator says the name of the animal, as well as the different ways to pronounce the letter that it starts with.
That’s not all there is to ABC Xenegugeli English Lite, though. Kids can tap on the letter at the bottom of their screen that takes them to a new page where they can physically trace the letter in uppercase and lowercase form.
A handy arrow even show you which direction you have to draw in order to write the letter correctly. Once the letters are successfully traced, the illustration becomes animated and the narrator sings a song about the animal. Pretty cool!
ABC Xenegugeli English Lite includes a great design and an overwhelmingly successful learning concept that keeps kids engaged and entertained. However, I was disappointed to find a lack of features beyond letter tracing and catchy songs. First, kids have to flip through all of the pages in order to progress through the alphabet, meaning the app can get a bit annoying when the narration starts on each page flip. A menu at the beginning of the app would definitely be helpful in expediting the process of practicing a particular letter.
Also, I feel like ABC Xenegugeli English Lite is lacking in parental features. I can’t be incredibly specific on this, as I know that the app is meant to read like an interactive book. However, I wish there was a way to specify a lesson plan to give children direction instead of having them flip through the app from A to Z.
For example, if ABC Xenegugeli English Lite kept track of how long a child spent on a particular letter, parents would know which letters are learned and which letters might need a bit more work.
ABC Xenegugeli English Lite is available to download for free from the App Store, and the full version of ABC Xenegugeli English is $4.99. Keep in mind, though, that both versions are universally compatible with iPhone and iPad. If you’re in the market for a great way to teach kids about the alphabet, this is one app that’s definitely worth considering!
ABC Xenegugeli English Lite is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
