iPhone App Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
As a photographer (both with my iPhone and Nikon), I’m no stranger to filters and artsy photo apps. Personally I believe a filter should never get more attention than the photo. One of the reasons why I’m bugged about the crazy filter party lately is because people have been using them to cover up their photos, which are usually already great and don’t need a filter in the first place.
LUZMO, developed by Anon Submoon, is a brand-new photo editing app that will revolutionize the way you look at creative filters. Thanks to a plethora of features that make it a truly unique addition to the App Store, this is one app you definitely need to check out.
Concept and Functionality:
So long as we have photography, there will always be filters. After all, photo filters are far from a “thing” started by digital photography. However, photo filter apps allow us to change our photos in ways we’ve never been able to do so in the past. Many of the filters we know of today are just generic color changes that can’t be customized by the user.
LUZMO goes above and beyond the “usual” and adds flare to filters that I’ve never seen before in a photo app. Let me tell you, it’s downright refreshing to see something new in the filter world!
It’s difficult to explain what LUZMO does without being able to show you (hence the handy video review above). The basic concept is to not only add color filters to a photo you’re editing, but to also add long exposure light trails and other cool effects.
This gives any photo a unique and abstract touch, making it 100% yours. The best part? The filters aren’t extremely harsh and distorting, meaning your photo isn’t hidden beneath it.
Using LUZMO is a breeze, too, and that’s always an important point for me when it comes to reviewing photo apps. There are literally thousands of filter combinations you can create, and it’s very fluid to use. It takes a few minutes to get acquainted with everything that LUZMO can do, but it’s definitely fun to play around and figure out which filter and light combination is perfect for your photo.
As I mentioned above, you can create a seemingly endless number of filters using a combination of light lines and background colors. You can even go so far as to customizing the filter’s colors and other aspects. However, my only gripe about that is the fact that the customization sliders are way too small, even for my tiny fingers. Just the smallest adjustment can move the slider all the way up or down, making this feature seemingly impossible to use unless you’re sitting still.
Slider issues aside, LUZMO is also designed to help you share your photos with your social networks. You can easily send your photo to the usual places (Twitter, Facebook, and your camera roll), as well as Instagram and Flickr.
You’d be surprised with the number of photo apps that tend to leave the last two out, so it’s great to see that they’re included here.
LUZMO can be downloaded from the App Store for only $0.99 and doesn’t come with any sneaky in-app purchases or additional feature unlocks. You get what you pay for, which is always a plus when it comes to photography apps. If you’re looking to break free from the typical Instagram filter style,
LUZMO is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Requires iOS 6.1 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
