iPhone App Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
You know, every now and again we come across an application that is so inventive, so useful, and so stupidly simple that we’re surprised we haven’t seen the concept until now.
In other words, it’s an idea that’s so good, it could not possibly have gone this long without popping up. Such is the case with Cabbage, from Coupon s.r.o. The title offers up a new way to experience cab driving, and to even make a little money on the side.
If that sounds like it just might tickle your fancy, then you’ll find our full review of the app below. Starting with:
Concept and Functionality
The basic idea behind Cabbage looks something like this: If you haven’t taken a cab anywhere recently, we’re going to go ahead and fill you in on the experience—it sucks.
Your cab driver is typically a few shades short of a serial killer, the rates are overpriced (and rarely mentioned ahead of time) and the fees can be surprisingly costly. In other words, it’s high time that someone else came along to offer us a better alternative.
Cabbage, despite it’s rather unappetizing name, is just that application. It allows community members and professionals alike to sign up as drivers, list their services, obtain recommendations, set their prices, and then get rolling.
When you’re in need of a driver you simply type in where you are, and where you’d like to go. Cabbage then takes the information and relates you to nearby drivers. If you find one you like, you tap a button, and then wait it out.
It’s quick, simple, and you have all of the relevant information about the experience in front of you ahead of time. Honestly, we really are surprised that it took the concept this long to surface, but we’re so glad that it did.
Design and Interface
In fact, our only real complaint with the title is its design. It’s a new application and as such, it can be a little rough around the edges. The branding isn’t as tight as we’d like, nor is the interface quite the smooth customer it needs to be yet. However, they are committed to continually improving it and we’re hardly worried.
With an idea this good, it’s only a matter of time before the kinks are ironed out, and the interface shines like the golden head of Phil Collins (that’s a joke, you guys :).
At the end of the day, Cabbage is a phenomenal idea wrapped in a free price tag. If you’re in need of a cab driver—and live in an area populated enough to already have members on Cabbage—then you’re in luck. Grab this free gem, as it’s only going to get better from here on out.
Cabbage requires iOS 5.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
