iPhone App Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
Across the board, we’ve been seeing a whole lot more emphasis on social networking and social media within iOS app development as of late. It seems that everyone and their grandmother is swapping to some kind of startup or accessory to a startup. With that in mind, we’ve got a new one to huck into the pile.
This time its an application by Nerves Design & Engineering called Boldomatic, and though it isn’t our favorite photo-oriented social tool on the iPhone, it’s certainly a good one to keep in your collection. If you’re looking for our full review of the title, you need only to slide on down below the break. Starting with:
Concept and Functionality
If you use a service like Pinterest or Tumblr (or to a lesser extent others like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) we’re sure you’re aware of a certain trend. This trend involves taking blocks of text, putting them over a blank background, and generally trying to make people laugh.
The end results are share easy, can be re-blogged without much effort, and make a real splash.
That is exactly what you’ll get here with Boldomatic, just in a tiny, easy-to-use package. The app allows you to setup basic text over a plain, single-color background, and then share it with the rest of the app’s users.
This is all that the application offers, so if you’re really into this sort of thing, having an entire network of other people in the same boat will be quite the boon. If you’re looking to expand your online presence, though, you can do that as well by sharing to Twitter or Facebook.
It’s smooth, overall, but we do have one complaint: It’s extremely minimal. There are no images you can add, no additional fonts. It’s like a point-and-click camera for this sort of expression, and if that’s okay, you’ll enjoy the hell out of Boldomatic.
Design and Interface
On the other hand, Boldomatic happens to be one of the better designed applications we’ve looked at in the last few weeks. It comes with an iOS 7-ready flat design that’s simply marvelous.
The entire application is easy to maneuver through, takes almost no time to use, and is pleasant on the eyes to boot. As if that weren’t enough, the social side of the title isn’t even irritating! We enjoyed seeing other posts, and the design truly does enhance the experience. Well done, lads!
And of course, Boldomatic is also free in the App Store, which makes it quite a bargain any day of the week. If you’re looking for a one-trick pony that does exactly what Boldomatic does, then you’ll love it to death. If you’re looking for something a little more complex, though, you’ll be much better off shopping elsewhere. Either way, you’re not going to break the bank.
Boldomatic requires iOS 5.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
