You know, we’ve seen a whole lot of iPhone applications. In fact, we think we’ve likely seen more than just about any other group of people out there. However, we’ve never quite seen something like BIG PICTURE by GmbH. There’s no need to dance around this one: The app allows you to watch your favorite YouTube videos across two iPhones like one big screen. Now that’s what we call sharing!

It’s an interesting experience, and though you might have to work to find a place for it in your daily routine, it’s the sort of concept that keeps us interested. For our full review, you need only to slide on down below the break!

Concept and Functionality

Honestly, as we’ve already mentioned, the concept behind Big Picture is quite easy to explain. That being said, we’ll go into a bit more detail for those of you playing at home.

First, you’ll need two iPhones. This could be yours and the phone of a friend, or it could be two devices you already own. Either way, you then both need to turn on Bluetooth services and install the Big Picture application. After that, just tap on both devices, and you’re up and away!

One user selects a YouTube video, and then the app does the rest. It will split that video onto both screens and then play it through no questions asked. No matter who you are, you have to admit that’s pretty damn cool. And in our experiences with the app, it hardly took any effort at all. All in all, it’s the sort of idea that we’ve not seen before (at least not exactly in this package) which makes Big Picture truly an original entry.

Design and Interface

As stated, the interface you’ll find with Big Picture is also incredibly simple. In about three traps (plus some typing, we suppose) you can have yourself a split-screen panorama party.

The app also happens to look pretty good, with a smooth velvet finish and red sheen. Otherwise, YouTube integration works flawlessly, and the whole package is as tight as a straight jacket. To sum it all up, we can’t say much about the looks, other than we’re looking.

Overall Value [Rating:4.5:/5]

And at the end of the day, Big Picture is completely free. That means you can enjoy all of the splendors it has to offer without spending a single cent. Have you downloaded the app, but can’t find a way to use it in “real life?” We’re not surprised—but you’re also down zero cents!

This one is free for you to experiment with, and just maybe you’ll find a YouTube-enabled person at a party with whom you can share the Big Picture. After all, it’s a crazy world out there.

Big PictureBIG PICTURE requires iOS 6.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
