iPad Game Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
As an app reviewer, I come across many apps and games that don’t seem to get the attention they deserve. From stunning graphics to a novel concept, I often wonder why these apps aren’t loved as much as they should be. This is a great example of a game that should be a hit, so I hope you’re ready for adorable overload!
WeeWaa RockOn, developed by UI Digital, is an incredibly fun game for iPad and iPhone. Can you help your WeeWaa defend its village from angry Groompas? For the sake of all that’s cute, I sure hope so!
Concept and Gameplay:
WeeWaa RockOn is one of those games where I found myself wondering why it’s not more of a hit on the App Store. The graphics are absolutely stunning, and Oslo-based musician Cukoo created one of the catchiest soundtracks I’ve ever heard in a game. To be honest, I found myself opening the app just to listen to the title screen theme. From the second I launched it, I knew WeeWaa RockOn was a hidden gem.
The story goes like this: angry Groompas are trying to sabotage the happy-go-lucky WeeWaa Village because they can’t stand their music. It’s your job to travel the roads of your beloved village, destroying every angry Groompa you encounter. Your magical guitar is your tool of choice, and you can use it to pick up Groompas and throw them out of the way. You can choose to smash them into each other or aim for nets. If you manage to net three Groompas, you’ll enter RockOn mode where you’ll receive special bonuses.
While the game might sound quirky and a bit childish, looks are certainly deceiving. WeeWaa RockOn is a great game for children and adults alike, and it’s ridiculously cute and fun to play. It doesn’t take long to get the hang of the game, either. Plus it’s extremely addicting and fun to rock out to.
When you’re not eliminating annoying Groompas, you can check out the store and purchase boosts for your WeeWaa using coins earned from playing the game. These boosts range from extending the duration of your RockOn bonus to deflecting Groompa projectiles. You can even change your WeeWaa’s outfit and guitar. One thing I do want to mention about this is the fact that there’s no way to preview outfits or guitars without buying them, meaning you might accidentally spend your coins on something you don’t want.
Also, you can earn coins by completing missions. From netting a certain number of Groompas to hitting the purple bonus monster, there are all sorts of challenges you can try to complete while playing. Naturally some of them are a bit more difficult than others, but this adds to the game by allowing players to challenge themselves to more than just a good score.
WeeWaa RockOn is available in both a free version and a paid version, which is only $0.99. However, the paid version will unlock a second WeeWaa village. Also, the game is universally compatible with iPad and iPhone. Therefore, it’s a value that’s hard to beat. I can’t recommend WeeWaa RockOn enough, as it is definitely one of the best games I’ve played yet!
WeeWaa RockOn is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.3 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
