The Story of the Drip Drops is a story-based app by BelugaBloo. Available for free through the iTunes store, The Story of the Drip Drops aims to teach young children proper color association ideas for common items (like fruits and flowers).

Features:

The Story of the Drip Drops is a fun, storybook-styled app that presents the stories of “The Drip Drops.” These cheery little drops set about coloring their formerly colorless town, and young iOS users are invited along their journeys. The Story of the Drip Drops is an interactive coloring book as well. It allows users to color in pictures themselves as the story goes along. However, instead of just choosing any color that they want, users must make correct color choices before they can mark on the “pages” of the story.

For example, the “orange” colored marker must be selected before users can color in the oranges on the orange tree. In this way, children can learn correct color association through the app as well. The Story of the Drip Drops also features upbeat background music and a “Read it to me” or “Read it myself” options. While my time spent playing The Story of the Drip Drops was mostly satisfactory, I did find that there seemed to be quite a bit of lag in the operations of the app at varying times. Other than this issue, however, the features of this app were great.

Appearance and Layout:

The graphics of this app are perfectly designed for it. All the story characters are drawn with enough detail to satisfy budding young artists, but they still employ a strong cartoon-character concept. As such, The Story of the Drip Drops’ graphics are cheerful and make sense with the overall storyline of the app.

Additionally, The Story of the Drip Drops is made with a completely user-friendly interface, another asset which falls perfectly inline with its stated target audience (young children). Navigating through The Story of the Drip Drops is easy to do, and children of reading age should be easily able to locate the “Read it to myself” option on the opening screen.

Value:

The Story of the Drip Drops is a fun, free app that should be sufficiently entertaining for young audiences. While it obviously is not designed with adult iOS users in mind, The Story of the Drip Drops is definitely an app that will keep little ones occupied for a bit.

Overall, this app is a charming story app for young children, but at the same time it probably is just an app that will only be used for a short period of time. As such, while The Story of the Drip Drops is definitely worth its download space, it may not last for very long in a user’s app collection.
