Tag & Flag
iPhone App Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
Personally I love photo games. Not only do they allow for unpredictable creativity and imagination, but playing them also trains your eye to notice details in environments you’re unfamiliar with.
Concept and Gameplay:
Tag & Flag is somewhat like the SongPop of photos, allowing you to take turns challenging friends and strangers. The whole idea of the game is to tag objects in photos using clues. It’s your opponent’s job to locate the object(s) you’ve tagged. Sounds simple, no?
Tag & Flag is turn-based, so if you’re not tagging photos, you’re flagging them. When starting a new game you can choose to create up to five tagged items. Each time you successfully flag every object in a photo, you earn coins that can be put toward purchasing hints that’ll help you while playing.
Regarding gameplay and overall thoughts, I found Tag & Flag to be very fun to play. Though it can be somewhat confusing to understand at first, there’s a helpful tutorial which walks you through the game when you first play it. One of the drawbacks about Tag & Flag is that it’s fairly new, so you might be waiting awhile before your invited to play a game with a random opponent. Therefore, I definitely recommend sharing the game with a few friends so you don’t spend too much time waiting for a new game to start.
Tag & Flag includes quite a few features that make gameplay even more fun. For example, you can create group games for an even better playing experience. This feature is perfect for users who want to play Tag & Flag without sharing photos with the rest of the world. Also, who doesn’t love a great game between friends?
As I mentioned before, you can also use hints while playing to help increase your chances of successfully flagging objects. You can use the Matches hint which burns a small part of the photo that isn’t tagged, or you can use a Magnet which pulls you toward a tag. The number of hints you can use is limited, and you’ll have to use coins earned from playing to purchase more in the game’s store.
Lastly, Tag & Flag allows you to create an account using either an email address or Facebook. As always, the Facebook option is great for social players who enjoy games with random opponents. You can also find other players using their username or email address. The game also includes push notifications so you’re alerted when it’s your turn to play.
Tag & Flag is available to download for free in the App Store and comes with optional in-app purchases. You can download coin packs or disable ads for $1.99, which is a little steep given the fact that upgrading doesn’t unlock any additional features that aren’t available in the free version.
Tag & Flag is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Requires iOS 4.3 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
