iPhone App Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
While gardening can be both a fun and peaceful activity, starting the season can be nothing short of a pain. How many times have you forgotten where you planted a row of bulbs? Perhaps seeds have begun to sprout and you have no idea what they are. It’s time to end the confusion and frustration with an app that’s sure to become your new gardening pal.
Garden Organizer, developed by CAVU Media, is a tool that’s extremely useful for casual and serious gardeners alike. From keeping track of plants to remembering exactly where they’re planted, you’ll be the master of your garden in no time!
Concept and Functionality:
Garden Organizer is the perfect app for anyone who wants to keep track of plants without making it feel like a second job. The app has a great design and layout, and it shouldn’t take much time at all to learn how to use it efficiently. Garden Organizer not only allows you to keep your personal garden in order, but it can serve as a shopping list as well, thanks to the built-in wishlist.
To add a new garden to Garden Organizer, simply create a new garden in the My Gardens section of the app. Once you’ve chosen a name for your garden and optionally upload a photo, you can create virtual plant tags for everything that’s in it. These plant tags can be as simple or as detailed as you like. You can choose to only include the name of the plant, or you can upload a photo of the plant itself and include detailed garden notes.
“That’s great, but what about knowing where the plants are located in the garden?” Easy peasy! Once you’ve created plant tags for everything you’ve planted, you can drag and drop them on an uploaded photo of your garden. To make the process a bit easier to manage, I recommend breaking your garden up into sections and uploading multiple photos instead of trying to fit all tags on the screen. As always, experiment with Garden Organizer and see what works best for you!
From being able to place virtual tags on a photo of your garden to keeping track of every plant you have, it’s hard to imagine anything that Garden Organizer might be lacking. There are a couple of features I haven’t mentioned, though, and they’re certainly useful. First, you’re not limited to creating one garden. Multi garden capability is perfect for those who might have multiple gardens in their yard, or even professional gardeners who need to keep track of different clients.
If you ever need to export garden data, Garden Organizer allows you to do so via a handy Excel spreadsheet that can be emailed to yourself as an attachment. This spreadsheet is perfect for keeping a record of plants you grew in a certain year or garden layout.
Garden Organizer can be downloaded from the App Store for only $0.99, which isn’t unreasonable at all given the number of useful features in the app. Casual and serious gardeners alike will find Garden Organizer to be a companion they can’t be without!
Garden Organizer is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Requires iOS 4.3 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
