iPhone App Review by TheiPhoneAppReview.com
Budget Boss, by Damian Toohey, is touted to be the perfect app for personal financial budgeting. Budget Boss helps users track their main areas of spending, allowing them to see areas of their lives where they could possibly save more money if they made an effort to do so.
Like its name suggests, the purpose of Budget Boss is to provide an easy way for users to track their spending patterns. Graphical representations of budgeting trends are provided in this app, and users are encouraged to input all of their spending information into the app in order to provide the most accurate budgeting reports. At the same time, Budget Boss also features the ability to predict how much money a user will have in his/her bank account up to two years in the future, based on current income and spending patterns. This way, users are more encouraged to actually abide by strict budgets in order to improve their predicted net worth in the future. Other features of Budget Boss include calculating tools to figure out payment plans and the ability to export data directly to Excel if desired.
Appearance and Layout:
Budget Boss, like most other budgeting apps, requires users to input a good deal of data in order for the app’s features to be fully utilized. However, while some might think that recording all of this info could make Budget Boss to be an overly crowded app (graphically speaking), the layout of Budget Boss is such that users only feel informed (and not overwhelmed) by the data appearing on the screen at any one time. Colorful graphics make it easy for iOS users to quickly identify various areas of their spending, and both pie and bar graphs are used to provide visualizations of budgeting trends. Inputting data into Budget Boss is also easily accomplished.
At $0.99, Budget Boss really is a perfectly affordable app that is well justified in its fee. While there certainly are other budgeting apps on the market today, the features of Budget Boss really set it above its competitors. This app is easy to use, yet it also provides a detailed analysis of personal budgeting trends. The graphics are used to cover a good deal of information, yet the app still doesn’t seem overly crowded.
Also working on adding iCloud data syncing between devices. iCloud support won’t be available in this upcoming version but will be rolled out as soon as possible.
Budget Boss iPhone app requires iOS 4.3 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
