Stupid Monster: Written & Video iPad Game Review
The stupid monsters are here! Twelve silly aliens, all with their own unique characteristics and faces, must stack their way to their home planet, escaping together! Can you help them out on iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone? Find out on Stupid Monster from developer Cotton Interactive.
In Stupid Monster, you must help a bunch of clueless aliens get back to their home planet by stacking ’em up and create a network back. Thus, carefully stack the tottering and teetering pile of aliens further and further into the air. But be sure the pay attention to timing of your taps. You’ll score points as you do, and even unlock special combos to score even more points, “fever”style.
Feel your game needs some help? Spend hard-earned (or purchased IAP-style) coins on upgrades and specials to use throughout the game. It’s basically a survival game, constantly stacking to see how far you can get, as more and more aliens pile on. We like the fact that the actual gameplay itself is rather simple, just a tap. Of course there is a challenge and that is in how well you can time your taps.
It sounds fairly simple, but the developers have kept to a solid formula and Stupid Monster is incredibly fun! The game just feels like it has all the right elements to make it an addictive stacking game!
Stupid Monster looks great on the iPhone (especially the iPhone 5) and the iPad. It features a solid set of sharp, cartoon-ish graphics with cute little alien monsters and stylized interface. The sound quality is also great and definitely adds a nice touch to the already polished stack game on iOS.
At the end of the day, do we really need yet another Tetris-style balancing act game? Yes! Stupid Monster takes the simple formula of the classic stack ’em up games, adds a fun, colorful alien storyline, throws in some unique combos specials, and voila-fun on iOS!
The developers have done a good job turning this free (with IAP) app into a solid stack game for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.
Stupid Monster requires iOS 4.3 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad devices. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
