mySheets: Written iPhone App Review
Do you work hourly job(s) and need a good way to keep track of your projects with time spent? Check out mySheets – Project Timer, a new timekeeping app for iOS. Developed by Brent Kennedy and in cooperation with certified Project Management Professionals (PMP), this interesting app is available for $1.99 on iTunes.
When a user initially creates a new project, they’ll be given the options to add a Name, Company, Note, Hourly Rate (On/Off) and so on. Then, once the project is added, the app will track the time spent on the project through the ‘Start’ feature. It shows off the hours spent, the total revenue and total number of entries for the project. There is a total payment tracker as well.
Once a project is complete, the user can fire off a handy report, in an CSV or TSV spreadsheet file, through email. This is done through the Export feature on the Reports page. It supports the export of multiple projects as well. Users can select the first day of each work week, (default Sunday) as needed. Also, users can split or modify existing entries to correct mistakes after time tracking as entered. It’s basically a time-tracker project app and it does the job of calculating costs and time quite well, with some nice export options for reports.
mySheets sports a clean-cut, professional interface. There isn’t a lot of graphical sparkle and dazzle, rather, this app focuses on project tracking. We think productivity apps should always remember that they exist to help people be more productive (duh!) and we found its simplicity to be a key factor in its ability to allow a user to quickly get the task at hand done.
The layout is very easy to figure out from the start and the user controls are very straight-forward making the app quite easy to just pick up and use without much in the way of training. There isn’t any audio that we noticed (not that this app really needed it) and the buttons also respond quickly to the touch. We especially appreciated the ease of inputting notes, times, and even exporting reports. It’s all quite easy through the clean interface.
mySheets makes it easy to keep track of multiple projects, be it at work, for hobbies, odd jobs or more. It features a very clear-cut, simple interface with useful tracking and reporting options. It does seem a little simple for a $1.99 app, but for those looking for a way to keep track of hourly rates and times on projects, mySheets may be just the key. Check it out today on iTunes for the iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad.
mySheets – Project Timer iPhone app requires iOS 6.1 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad devices. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
