Fart Guitar: Written & Video iPhone App Review
(Promo Code Giveaway! See below for free promo codes)
Here at the iPhone App Review, we like a good gag application. Of course, we’re talking about any novelty title that makes our day brighter, our smile cheerier, and our step springier. With that in mind, we’re excited to be bringing you a review of the aptly named Fart Guitar from DevDigital LLC today. The app is a toot and an half—no pun intended—and if you’re looking for a unique way to make music, this is it. For our full review, you need only to slide on down below the break! Starting with:
Concept and Functionality
If you couldn’t gather from the title of the app, this is a guitar that also makes rather amusing flatulence while you pluck the strings. To put it another way, Fart Guitar is the only app we know of that combines over-the-top breaking-of-wind with actual guitar sounds produced by touching and strumming a simulated guitar.
Every time you pluck a string or create a chord (which you can do by select one from the row of icons along the bottom) you’ll find your musical interludes accompanied with a blast of—well, a blast aught to summarize it. You can adjust the level of farting to the level of actual music, as well. If you’d like a bit more of a laugh, crank up the whoopee cushion sounds. If you want to actually play a bit of music, but still want some down-home duets, then crank it toward the notes end of the scale. Either way, it’s a good time out, and you’ll find yourself tickled to the bone almost every time.
Design and Interface
Here’s where things get a bit more unpleasant with Fart Guitar. Obviously, the app works quite well. It adequately combines the two elements in question in a way that is amusing and entertaining. However, we found the mixture a bit off. No matter where we cranked the slider, it still seemed like we had a bit too much farting and not enough substance. Likewise, we found the strings a bit hard to activate. Lastly, there’s a worrying lack of content here, as you’ll only get an acoustic guitar, and only so many fart sounds to play with—none of which can be altered. All in all, it’s not a very deep experience that you’ll find here, though it does look nice to be sure.
At the end of the day, though, Fart Guitar is still a pretty decent value. It will only cost you a dollar, and largely the amount of joy you get out of the app depends on your sense of humor. If a fart joke makes you laugh for days, you’ll find a lot to love here. If you weary quickly of this sort of thing, don’t expect to get much beyond your original dollar out of Fart Guitar.
