Tales of Pirates: Video and Written iPad Game Review
Are you searchin’ for excellent educational apps and games for your child? Maybe somethin’ that’ll keep them entertained without bein’ borin’? Look no further, for thar’s treasure up ahead in t’ form o’ an amazin’ new game!
Concept and Gameplay:
With great graphics, lively music, and a wonderful array of mini games to play, Tales of Pirates takes the cake as one of the best children’s games I’ve seen in quite some time. Children get to play as pirates who lost the map to treasure in a wild storm. Therefore, they must sail around the ocean looking for their gold. Each stop is a fun and entertaining mini game, and it must be completed in order for the ship to continue onward.
These entertaining games range from feeding fruits to an octopus to correctly matching gem colors on a treasure chest. In total, there are 13 unique games to play, each with its own skill requirement. These games attempt to exercise your child’s motor skills, imagination, memory, and logic, all while keeping him or her entertained.
One of the things I really like about Tales of Pirates is that it isn’t a complicated game to learn and play. Clear directions are given when a new mini game is played, and it’s expected that children will remember how to play it when they encounter it again.
Not only does Tales of Pirates feature plenty of mini games to keep your child occupied, but there are also 3 large islands to explore. What’s nice is that mini games correlate to where your child is located on the map, so land games take place while exploring islands and coves.
Also, Tales of Pirates features a handy contact form for parents. It’s conveniently located on the home screen, which makes it extremely easy for parents to contact the developer regarding comments, concerns, or compliments. There’s also an expandable bookshelf which gives you access to other apps and games by the developer.
Lastly, according to the game’s iTunes page, “Tales of Pirates has been created with participation of specialists in early education. You will find bright and extraordinary characters, excellent sounds and unique environment of incredibly fascinating sea adventure.” This couldn’t be more correct, as Tales of Pirates is definitely one of the best education games I’ve seen.
Tales of Pirates is available to download from the App Store for $1.99. This is a wonderful value because the game is universally compatible with both iPad and iPhone. If you’re looking for a truly fun and educational game for your child, I can’t recommend Tales of Pirates enough!
Tales of Pirates is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review, as well as a video production fee.
