Pro Golf Scout: Written iPhone App Review
Pro Golf Scout by Dane Schneider is touted to be the ideal app for anyone interested in having easy access to seemingly limitless information on professional golfing statistics. Specifically speaking, this app boasts of providing its users with relevant info on over 1000 active golfers.
Pro Golf Scout is designed to provide its users with just about any information that they could want to know about their favorite pro golfers. PGA rankings for 22 different stat categories are included in this app, along with the ability to compare up to 6 different player’s stats at a time (complete with the option to graph these statistics). Pro Golf Scout also gives iOS users the option to save the info of their favorite players so that they can save time whenever they want to look up their stats next. Additionally, Pro Golf Scout taps into the rich history of golf by providing information on the major golf events of the past 15 years, and this app also provides schedules of any current or upcoming golfing events. Both European and PGA tour results are featured in this app. Continuous updates to Pro Golf Scout ensure that the information in it is always accurate and up to date.
Appearance and Layout:
Pro Golf Scout’s layout leaves no room for complaints. It is easy to navigate, with icons located at the bottom of the screen depicting each different section of the features of the app. Players are listed alphabetically, but users can use a search box option to quickly direct themselves to the profile of a specific player. Pro Golf Scout is mostly designed to be a practical app, and as such its appearance seems to be geared toward making use of the app to be as time-efficient as possible. Because of this practical design, not much can be said about the graphics of Pro Golf Scout (as there really aren’t too many). However, it can be stated that everything in Pro Golf Scout is easy on the eyes—from the fonts chosen for it to the way that stats are graphed.
Pro Golf Scout currently costs $4.99 through the iTunes store, and this price is certainly higher than that of most recreationally-related iOS apps. However, for the extreme golf enthusiast, Pro Golf Scout may be easily seen as worth its price, given the mass amount of information that it readily provides its users. Overall, while its prices is a bit steep, Pro Golf Scout still is a well-designed app that may appeal to hardy golf enthusiasts in spite of its fee, but anyone with only a moderate interest in golf can probably do without it.
Pro Golf Scout iPhone app requires iOS 5.1 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
